Just representing life and philosophy in the style of Franklin and Churchill over on this side. It's not easy though, they can both eat way more than me at the buffet and Churchill can drink like you wouldn't believe. I lose all my bets with those guys.

But when it comes to upholding fundamental beliefs about what freedom means and standing true in the face of fear? The game I can spit is wicked, so put your running shoes on and lace 'em up tight, because I'm old school like that.

I won't get into the political discussions about it though; it's part in parcel how I got banned from the STO forums until next week (though I don't anything I said was *that* inflamitory).

I don't care what game you can spit. I don't think you get that. I meant what I said when I don't agree with you. It's not just a matter of not seeing your point of view, it's also a matter of I don't care what you have to say. I'm just being honest. Let's face it, we don't like each other very much and that's fine. That's why I try to limit my involvement with you.

You and I never see eye to eye on most things, and that's fine. I respect that, you should too.

I also think sitting back and relaxing at a time like this is a dangerous thing to do. That does not say that I think we should live in constant fear like some of our allies do, but I also think we shouldn't sit here and say "IT'S ALL OVER!IT'S ALL OKAY!"

Our pride will be our downfall. You can celebrate and feel a sense of accomplishment without being foolish or stupid, and I'm afraid we're going to do just that. Be foolish and stupid.

This truly is an historic occurence, and while as a nation we of course need to remain vigiliant, there's a difference between staying vigilant and overdoing it. The events of 9/11 kicked out xenophobia into hyperdrive, and this has the potential to do that all over again in the name of looking out for the next public enemy. My fear is that this time out it could be vastly worse, seeing as we have a portion of the US population that honestly believes that our elected President was born in another country and is part of a vast Muslim-socialist conspiracy. Freedom isn't free, and the cost is vigilence, but we do have agencies in place that are trained to deal with and recognize such things as threats. Despite what some media outlets feebly attempt to promote, those experts really do know what they're doing, and we by standers and observers do not know better than the experts just becasue we think we do. My fear is that the subsequent "watch everyone" propaganda will lead to witch hunting or worse, again, and that whacked out tea afficianadoes will engage in such actions with self righteous glee.
Of course we need to stay alert, no sane person on this planet would support just totally lowering the nation's guard because one man is dead. But the whole point of living free is living free from terror, and to wear it out even farther if that's possible, if we give in to what they want, then the terrorists win.

And they clearly did not. Salutes to everyone involved, and gratitude.

I would like to say one thing here. Apparently people aren't getting me. I never said that we, the people should be ever vigilant, and so on and so forth. I said we as in, US. A nation, a government, and even our allies. We should all be mindful of what could happen. That doesn't say we should live in fear, but we most certainly shouldn't completely relax either.

And I do know that there are agencies in place. Just because I don't mention them, doesn't mean I miss that fact. Sometimes it doesn't need to be said. It can be assumed that a 30 year old American would know that the CIA, NSA, FBI, etc do exist and handle their jobs.

Again, I said we as in a collective, not individual people looking for the next criminal, just because he or she is dark complected.

And to be honest, I never inferred that either.

And I agree with this. Why people are taking what I say and twisting it, is beyond me.

I really have no comment for this. I don't think its a good thing or bad thing that he's dead. I just fear of what will, if ever, happen next.

In starting this thread, I merely wanted to notify the Board of a monumental occasion. I found out as I was speaking to a friend on Facebook. They said they had to go watch the news because Osama had been killed. My response was "Ok, ttyl. Wait...WHAT?!?!"

In my eyes, and this is COMPLETELY my take on the situation, the US received a bit of closure for 9/11 with this event. Decidedly it was long overdo. 10 years is a bit of a time trying to find a tall, lanky, bearded, murdering freak dragging a dialysis machine all over a desert wasteland. Honestly, I like to think he died of natural causes...

..if anyone has read anywhere, he was shot in the head right above the left eye.

Naturally, he died after that.

I have read that Al-Qaida might be taking a financial hit due to his death. Anything that makes the enemy weaker..I'm ok with. But fact is, there will still be terrorists...foreign and domestic. Just the way it is. Hopefully we have learned from the experience and it won't sting as much when it happens again.

Another reason I posted this, was to get the input of YOU. This board has people from all over the world and that is freakin' great for scope on a situation. The responses have been very thought provoking and insightful.

In the end, I'd just like everyone that has been effected by this, possibly having family or friends serving in the military so that I can have the right to say this, to simply be hopeful that something good may come of this...

Not to mention that it is far too convenient to take the shot after so many years of "war against terrorism", as a non-american, I can only say: It was about time!

I agree with Autobot032 on this. We shouldn't just drop our guard and pretend everything is over, but we shouldn't be paranoid.

"It's all over!" No it isn't, people still hate us.

"It's going to get so much worse!" How about we hear what our enemies think of this before we begin calling the End of Days?

Am I glad he's dead? Oh hell yes, if I could I'd be dancing in the streets. But at the same time, I don't think we should let our security get too lax or too tight.

I wish they would release the pictures though.
