Peter Cullen Deserves an Oscar... let's make sure he gets one.
Now I know just as well as you do that there is no category that recognizes voicework, and likely never will be.
However that doesn't make it any less wrong.
I say that we as transfans get together, find the outfit who makes the statues for the Oscars and commission one for Peter Cullen.
Near as I can tell the actual statue is not copyrighted and we wouldnt be doing it for profit anyway.
I'll pledge 10 bucks if we can get the ball rolling on this.

Exactly, what's he done to deserve it?
Plenty of other people out there who have done as much, if not more than him.

The statue is copyrighted. Even the NAME is copyrighted. The statues, iirc, cost a rediculous amount of money to produce.
It won't happen.
Nice idea, though. As for what he deserves it for...Lifetime Acheivment Award, perhaps?

Don't get me wrong, he's a helluva terrific guy.
He was excellent (and beyond) in this performance.
However, that doesn't make for an Oscar winning performance. Besides, the system is so rigged that he could give all the blood, sweat, and tears in the world and they'd still overlook him in an instant.
Such is the life of a voice actor. Sh*tty, isn't it? However, they have the last laugh...when a star's career is over, it's over. If nothing else, he gets to narrate the trailer for the movie that star could've been in.

Why is it that in this movie, the voice actors are very looked down upon by the Famous actors! Its not freakin fair! The VA did all the hard work

I think the reason is that VA sit in a booth with a microphone. Actors have to be on set (Qatar isn't very hospitable, BTW) and deal with rough schedules, and makeup. VA's can show up in whatever they want for the day, sitting in air conditioning (or heating if necessary).
Also, in the world of acting, stunt men have the hardest job, IMO.

Listen, I like Peter Cullen and everything. But to say he deserves an oscar... c'mon guys, we like him for his actual voice, but really now, his performance in the movie is so nothing to write home about... he talks, that's basically it.
Did anyone even hear his "awwww, Jazz..." line at the end?! Wow, he sounded soooo sad! For crying out loud, he just lost a longtime brother-in-arms and he sounded more like he just stepped in dog crap.

Um, I don't think they were really in Qatar filming the movie man.

They filmed the desert scenes at the White Sands military base in New Mexico.

I think Frank deserves a life time achievement award simply because he's done about every movie out there.

He did an amazing job, although it would've been better if he did Ironhide's voice too, just like the cartoon. I miss the "Awww shucks Prime" in that Texas southern drawl.

Yeah, but that might have racially offended some people. And even more so, you would have a need for a latino and asian transformer to be represented then.
Its borderline ridiculous.

so, by saying a southern Texas Drawl would be racialy offensive, you admit that Texans, of all races and colors, are their own Ethnic Group, their by Confirming what all Texans, Tejanos, Texicans, have Known all along, were our own damn country. because since i live here, i find the Drawl, the Twang, of what ever part of the state you live in, to be, multi Racial, a Latino with a Texas Drawl, a African American with a Texas Twang, Anglos with a Centeral Texas Slur,so a Southern Texas Drawl, in Reallity wouldnt be Racialy Offensive, it be apropriate, ether way, thanks for Suporting the Idea of Texas Independence.

I don't think people would take offense to the southern accent - it would be a nod to the old cartoon. I'm thinkin now that Pete didn't do Ironhide's voice b/c they didn't want to pay him more for 2 voices. The guy is amazing though -- maybe more animation houses e.g. Sony, Pixar, Fox will take notice and hire him. If I were a producer I'd give Cullen a full scale replica of Prime for his house. How's that for a thank you?

An oscar?? I personally thought he sounded tired. Not as good as he once was. Might have done Prime one too many times.
Even if there was an Oscar for Voice acting, I say no.
I think the movie should be nominated. The special effects etc were awesme and very enjoyable. Prime just sounded, bored.

I felt he did a brilliant job reprising the roll, and I'm really glad that he did. However, thinking he deserves an Oscar just sounds like you're letting a geekgasm get you overly excited.
I'd be happy to pickup a hallmark thank you card and send it his way though.

An Oscar for what? Hiding in a studio doing a character voice who didn't exactly speak much through most of the film? Yes! YES! You're right! Screw the actors in movies who show emotions and really get into their roles, even crying on demand!! Let's give Oscars to people we can't see sitting in a soundbooth!! GOOD CALL!!!

I always thought Texas was its own country anyway.
