Why is it that the Jap versions are always better? :-?

I mean, the American version of Masked Rider sucked big time too, whereas the Japanese Kamen Rider is pretty good.....

For the record, most Japanese consider the word "Jap" offensive. You are probably just using it as an abbreviation for the word Japanese, but it's still offensive. "JP" or "JPN" are the prefered abbreviations.

As for why they're better, there are multiple reasons. The first is simply that the stories are written for a Japanese audience. So while Power Rangers takes Japanese footage and uses it to tell its own story, the original Japanese versions don't have to try to make footage work around a new story.

Next, while Super Sentai is primarily aimed at a younger audience, Japanese TV creators aren't under the impression that their audience are a bunch of idiots. I guess a nicer way of saying that is that they give their audience a bit more credit. They trust that, should they use a word or phrase that their viewers don't understand, they'll just ask their parents about it.

I couldn't agree more about the US version of Masked Rider sucking. Has anyone seen the new Masked Rider movie, The Next? I haven't gotten around to it, but the promo materials make it looks pretty sweet.

Oops. My bad.

Ditto. I've been slacking. I never have time to watch movies anymore. I did get to see the new Evangelion movie, though. Eva is what Power Rangers always had the potential to be, imo. Amazing character drama w/ the occassional giant city-leveling brawl.

Meh, power rangers isn't very good anymore, just let it die in peace. However, and animated series seems dumb live action looks cooler

Yep. A lot of shows from back in the mid-'90s were taken from Japanese series'.

Masked Rider, Beetle Borgs, and VR Troopers are all examples. The latter two I really liked as a kid (For some reason), but they died because the Metal Hero phase kind of died down, and they ran out of usable footage from those series'.

I salute to one of the best and longest kids shows ever! Good bye live action! I watch it when I was a kid don't as often now but man what a heartbreaker. It might better this way though due to the rise animation in the past couple of years.

The Japnese ones will still remain live-action.

It's the american one that's going animated.

This is sad

Masked Rider Dragon Knight is coming soon, and PR is gonna have some competition.

They have potential to save the series if they are willing to actually start making original rangers and more mature stroylines.

Who knows, if this takes off, and I'm still interested in animation by then, I could be working on Power Rangers Pirate Force, or Cowboy Thunder, or something to that nature.

Do you honestly think that writing, producing, casting, and animating a series costs less money than sticking a bunch of new scenes around existing live-action footage?

Look, if someone were to pay me $1 every time I thought up parody Power Rangers series (And, to this day, it's been exactly 1), I'd have a large sum of money within the week.

Power Ranges: Britain Force ("I do say, this monster chum is quite frustrating to beat, don't you agree, old bean?")
Blatant Advertising Rangers (I'll beat this Tyco RC monster with my super Nike Running Shoes, then we'll head down to Wal*Mart, and get some delicious Pepsi Cola!)
Commie Rangers (Da, comrade, I shall beat this Capitalist monster with my Marx Ray!)
Depression Rangers (I want to beat this monster...but what's the point? My wife left me, my job is going nowhere, my life is worthless)

I'll think of more!

I REALLY think that an animated series has potential. Just imagine the Zord/Monster battles when they're not limited to "Japanese guy in a rubber suit punches another Japanese guy in a metal suit." Disney's give us Ducktales, Darkwing Duck, and Gargoyles. This could be great.

"could be great" are the keywords.....we'll have to wait and see....i really hope its an anime...i cant see power rangers done with american animation unless it was good like gargoyles...nothing has come close to how well that show has been drawn since.
