Dead Metal wrote:No mentioning of stuff happening in Predator 2, combined with the fact Romero himself stated the movie reboots the franchise while ignoring part 2 I say it's a safe bet that Predator 2 never happened in this new continuity.

Romero? You mean Rodriguez? All I heard on the subject was that the director said he was just ignoring Predator 2, not retconning it.

There was no point in having the Yakuza member except for the scene with a sword fight in the meadows reminiscent of a samurai movie.
I for one, applaud this decision.
Not only am I excited about the upcoming Alien movies, I really hope there's a chance to do a good Aliens vs. Predator movie (which is an idea I cannot believe people can screw up).
What up Supreme! Long time no see how have you been?
I used to go by Nova-Ting Ranger.
Also, so far everything I've heard has been great about this movie. I could never understand how Aliens got so many more movies than the Predator franchise. I mean you just need one Predator to make a good movie, where as Alien had thousand to a dozen per movie (except for the first one).
And the 3rd.
I don't know maybe because Alien had a huge impact on the audience, critics and the industry back then?
Dead Metal wrote:And now wikipedia says it's a "sort of sequel" to Predator 2, while one of their source for that statemnt is an interview with Rodriguez stating he hopes the movie will make them forget the bad Predator sequels so that they only remember the first and this one. I no longer care for the continuity in this.

And the first Predator film didn't either?
Otherwise all those videogames, crossovers, comics, and novels are just exercises in wasting money. Chance are that 90% of audience of Alien franchise has seen a Predator film, even before the crossovers. Granted it may not be as popular as Alien, but it is still popular enough to warrant another film, at least ten years ago when the concept of a sequel truly began to loose its significance in film.

That was cool, too. There was a lot of homage to the first one, especially the end credit song. And the Yakuza fight started exactly like the fight between the Predator in the first movie and Billy (except the Yakuza guy didn't cut his own chest first). I think they even used the same music.

Yea, at first that was very disappointing. But when you consider the classic predator was hunted down, chained up, and possibly not fed and tortured, he really didn't stand a chance against a super predator. He put up a damn good fight though given the condition he was in, and I was pulling for him to somehow win.

I think I read a spoiler on him, so that part was ruined. But not like we weren't warned about ten minutes into the movie anyway.
My only complaint was you could tell who was going to live right off the bat. No surprise.

totally knew he had to be a psycho too. that was an obvious psycho-killer
i loved Stans (the convict), and the constant prison shanking. that actor plays that same basic character in everything i've seen him in.

You gotta admit he's pretty damned good in Justified

Good to see that they can still make a good Predator movie, especially since AvP nearly killed the franchise.
