In that case, the symbiote as a whole is the actual mask in and of itself. But now we're getting into a semantics argument about comic book physics of alien creatures that can possess people.
Not really, if it was the mask, it would be the bit that crawls over his face to hide it. But yeah, let's get back to Transformers.

I'd heard people say Spider-Man 3 wasn't very good, and I'd had questions about the fact that they had so many villains in the movie, but I went to see it last night and really enjoyed it. I still have quibbles with some of the decisions made about Venom and other things, but it was still a fun movie. I came to this decision after having gone to watch the movie to form my opinion on the overall product.
As it should be done, form an opinion on how well you like the movie after you've seen it.
Now that you two have finished congratulating each other about how wonderful each of you are, stop and think. In Spiderman 3, Spiderman did not have a mouth in his mask, and Venom did have a mouth in his mask, and do you know why? BECAUSE VENOM HAS A FREAKIN MOUTH IN HIS MASK AND SPDERMAN DOES NOT!! If they had put a mouth on spiderman's mask, and made his costume green and yellow, would you just have accepted it, and waited till after you saw the piece of crap to say anything? Optimus prime does not have F*****G lips!!! its really that simple. The thought of looking at a mutilated Optimus Prime does'nt exactly sit well with people that are fans of Optimus Prime. If there was any way that a fan could try to stop that from happening, they probably would, and that includes voicing their opinion on this board. I think the best way to try that is by saying, screw this, i'm not going to see it. Oh yeah, the flames F*****G Suck too!!!
Maybe one day, the'll make a movie about you, and for updating puposes, they'll add a pair of tits to you. And thats alright cause nobody will have an opinion about it till after they've seen it.

But sure, keep the face plate,....and lose Chicken Screamer, and Ice Megatron.
(...Wow what a shocker, not a lot of people warming up to his lips....gee no one saw this coming...seriously????)
its not that he can't have a mouth, its just we don't want to see it exposed unless he gets kocked aroudn hard and part of the faceplate partially cracks off like in a few of the older comics. However, its not a question of him having a mouth, again faceplate to cover the mouth ALL the time is what we want, because look at him, he looks absolutely stupid with the lips.Matrix. wrote:The front page makes it sound like Optimus Prime having something behind his face plate is a bad thing- hasn't he always had something? Skeletal mouth? Hole?
Other than him showing it off, is there some sort of blasphemy amongst Seibertronians about his mouth existing?

In your opinion, not mine (and many others)
I couldn't agree more with every word you have typed thereskywarp-2 wrote:OHH Yeah baby, Prime has Lips, and he sure does have a purdy Mouth....MUah HA HA HA.. raping your childhood for cashola.. its great to be Bay!!!
Hey by the way, this is exactly who bay thinks we all are, and who they have in their studios helping make decisions on the Transformers movie, but whats funny is they say yes to everything, simply because they are excited to be acknowledeged..Or maybe its just to catch a glimpse of Megan Fox..
An example of Optimus Prime Mouth supporters below: they are happy if they find a pencil with Megatron written on it..
OK Seriously, are we trekies or transfans?? Come on people!!! its nice to see some work went into a costume, but its exactly the reasons we have people not take the fandom seriously when its something that needs to be addressed...
Get Rid of The Mouth!!! Michael Bay is litterally giving people fuel to say that Prime sucks.. and that was impossible before because he had a faceplate...
Shadowman wrote:Conceptron wrote:First, it is now proof that he does not respect the source material...WELL DONE!!!!
That would be bad, if the source material wasn't an outdated '80s children's cartoon that 99% of the world's population wouldn't go see.
Sticking to the source material would kill this movie.

wouldn't having a faceplate on help cut down on work needed to be done with cgi? i mean thats one less INTRICATE part that needs to be animated. so all they'd really have to do is put the plate over the mouth, but again, the chances of it changing are literally 1 in several billion.Dark Zarak wrote:Sermon wrote:I am quite certain that this is one of those cases where we, the fans, can make a difference.
I'm quite certain you're wrong.
Do you know how much of a huge process it is just to render a single frame out of millions for the kind of CGI they're using?
It's waaayyy too late my friend. You need to accept the reality of this. It's wishful thinking. A pipe dream.

Nope. The rendering process is the rendering process. How many minutes of footage does he have with no faceplate? Let's say 5, which is a crime to cry about but maybe it's more. We'll say 5. That's 300 seconds. That's 9000 frames. How long for one single frame? 37 hours. How many super expensive machines going round the clock to make all the frames? Let's give them two weeks to do it. That's 10 frames each, less than a second. That's about 900 machines.
That's 30 frames in 6 weeks, which they don't really have, since the movie still isn't done entirely with the work schedule they're on now. That would mean less machines, but more time. Do they want to spend the money on more machines to render all that faceplate footage, or do they want to push back the release date? Don't count on them flipping a coin.
I'm going into CGI. It's a process and a half. "We the fans" is such a joke at this point I don't know if I want to laugh or cry. This makes a tidal wave look like a leaky faucet.

I think he means while they were animating Prime-- at the moment, to go back over weeks and months of labor, is not cost effective, but, initially, it would have made sense.
