release date for Canada?

Postby primalVICTORY » Wed Jun 13, 2007 5:04 pm

so the movie comes out on the 3rd of july worldwide. now, apparantly theatres are allowed to show it at 8pm the day before so 8pm on july 2nd.
now, since july 1st is Canada day, will they still be showing it up in Canada on the 2nd?

I thought American production companies weren't going to release any movies ahead of their release dates in Canada due to piracy?

It shouldn't make a difference if the first is Canada Day. If they want to make lots of $$$ they should show it on the second.

I'm going to start calling some theatres around my area (Vancouver) to see if they have any information. I'll post as soon as I know.

lol I called a major theater in Edmonton today (in west edmonton mall) and asked them about the 2nd 8 pm show, and this is what I got:

"Actually, it doesn't open until the 7th."

And I bluntly replied, "Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Are you SURE?"

"Yeah, for sure."

"Check again."

"Oh, right, sorry, it opens on the 4th."

What a moron. "Well, I guess every other theater has it opening on the 3rd except yours. Thanks anyway." Hang up.

The theatre by my place is staffed by morons. They still have the release date as the 4th. Will I have to make a trip into Washington State on the second to see it? I hope not, crossing borders makes me nervous for some reason.
