Do we need an obituary thread or something? Everytime I see one of these I end up thinking that someone of relevance has died.

Honestly there is no need for the attitude. These threads pop up from time to time with no harm to anyone.
Just because you never heard of the person does not mean that he is unknown to anyone else.
If you do not know who the person is then simply click the "back" button at the top of the screen and completely ignore the thread.
