On foot? That's a helluva chase. Are you sure it was the junkies that got you? Because most people would have just collapsed from exhaustion.

Slang, and by extension, swearwords, not only fortify the language barrier, but also have a tendency to differ greatly from region to region. Despite the fact that America, Britain, and Canada all speak English, we don't use the same slang. In fact, half of America doesn't use the same slang as the other half. And half of either of those halves are entirely different.

tl;dr version, "ass" and "arse" are both correct, depending on your location.

Welcome to the America ran by Tea Party Republicans if they win in November. I think it's sad day for America when you have to pay extra for BASIC protection. What is next do we have to pay an extra fee for the police come over when we need them, or the District Attorney's to prosecute dangerous criminals?

This is NOT a political discussion. There's a politics and religion forum where your personal beliefs and standings can be voiced, use it.

This thread has nothing to do with politics, don't derail it. I wouldn't do it to you.

It's supposed to but this article claims it varies from region to region.

The firefighters are idiots for making someone pay in advance, and, when they fail to, you look away as their house burns down.

The victims are idiots for not growing a pair and doing something about this. "They're just doing their job" no, their not, if they were doing their job I wouldn't be making a post on how people are idiots.

And everyone defending the firefighters are idiots for just defending them. You think it's okay to let someone lose everything they own over $75? It's not! If the fire department was so broke they should have talked to the mayor or governor or someone about better funding. Not an insane policy where you have to pay in advance or else they won't save your home.

THis reminds me of the whole gang thing "insurance" except that it's more legal...

My lack of actual life experiences(being 15...err well 16 now as it's after midnight) hinder me from giving thoughtful insight...

But over $75 bucks? They're really letting the house burn over that? Whatever happened to just helping people out.

According to the article, and this is something I hadn't known previously, rural fire departments aren't supported by municipalities and must work within a ridiculously small budget.

We should cover their fees, but apparently we have to have something like this happen so we can all have a duh moment. A very costly lesson to be learned...

As for all discussions being political? No. Not every discussion or thread is political. Sometimes people can't seem to find that off switch.

What I posted to begin with rings a bit more true now hrm?

Autobot032 wrote:You'd be singing a different tune, and you know you would, if it was your home burning to the ground while the firefighters stood there and did nothing.

Probably, because I would have paid the necessary yearly contribution and if they stood around then, I would be pissed. But if we're talking about what each of us would do, as a responsible adult I would have paid for insurance and fire protection.

I think it's also kind of interesting that no one picked up on my very applicable analogy to insurance and attempting to pay for it after the fact.

Once again though, the firefighters invloved are pricks. They should probably be investigated to ensure that they did not violate any terms of their operating contract with the adjacent municipal and county authorities.

Insurance is different. Insurance is actually "you give us money, and we'll help pay for hospital bills, car repairs, and even give your family money if you die." They're job isn't to save your life, just to help out with the bills.

Actually it is all about politics. Since it is the politicians create the laws we live by, and that is what the firefighters were obeying was the law created by conservatives. That is what needs to be change in that county. I can't 100% blame the firefighters, they share an equal blame lawmakers in that county for passing a stupid law.

Do we know the political leaning of the people who made that law?

No, it's not always about politics. Most municipality boards running a town usually look at a matter and say "We have the money" or "we don't have the money". You don't have to be Republican or Democrat to be able to do that. All you have to do is look at the checkbook and go "Oooh. Nope."

I'm not even going to address your anti-conservative comment, because this is not a political discussion.

I posted this to get people's opinions, not their political leanings. Had I done that, I'd have posted it in the P&R forum, but I didn't. I rarely discuss politics and religion. I'm not a fan of what could come of it.

Normally, at this point, I'd be boiling angry because you're not respecting my wishes, and I'd tell you to get out of my thread, but instead I'm just going to ask the mods or admins to close this.

It's going to get ugly, and it's going to go in a direction I never intended, nor wanted.

Please, mods or admins, close this thread. I don't want it to spiral out of control and cause problems. Thank you.

Too much political discussion going on..

locking this thread down for now.
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).
