Sonic the Comic

Motto: "Don't do drugs, beer's cheaper anyway!"
No this isn't about Archie's Sonic The Hedgehog series witht he motto "The worlds most way past cool comic", no this is about Fleetway's "Sonic The Comic" and if it had a motto it would have been "The Worlds most way past awesome comic".
For those that don't know fleetway is a UK comic publisher and produced such characters as Judge Dread, yes they published a Sonic comic and yes it was excellent!
It has since sadly been cancelled in 2002 to be exact, which is said to be fleetway's own fault as it was the result of bad decisions.

Well it starts out pretty week, well actually pretty poopy and boring but damn does it pick up fast and really good. It starts out with Robotnik trying to take control over Mobius and actually results in him achieving his goal. The comic can actually get really gritty starting with Robotniks conquering of Mobius and especially once the "Sonic Terminator" storyline kicks in.
It does have pretty crappy very very kiddy "we brake the 4th wall and Robotnik is no threat at all" kind of filler stories which are mostly written by Mark Miller, which makes no sense to me.

Also since I've read both I can say that STC's Knuckles introduction story beasts the Archie comic version to a pulp, chews it up, spits it out and laughs at it while p**sing all over it's wounds - that's how awesome it is!

And yes I will try to read all of the Archie comics too once I've finished the STC ones, all I've read of the US ones up until now is what came with the Sonic Mega Collection for the GameCube and a few random issues I found at a comic store they where the middle bits of 4 different story arcs so eh.

Oh another little difference between the US and UK, let me introduce you to Super Sonic:
Image
Yes he's super powered, super fast and a super out of control super maniac! Kind of like the Hulk, just in gold and with that bit more hate and homicidal tendencies - he's awesome.

You can find the issues on ebay or you'll know where.

Here's a list of the issues:

Never read it. But years ago back when I was a huge Sonic fanatic, I looked into all forms of Sonic fiction and came across this story as well. My reaction to this thing that it was dark, serious, crazy, and just way out there. It seemed like it was a mix of SatAM and the games, both on acid. :o)

The sadistic Super Sonic was an interesting twist. First as an alter ego, then as his own being. And don't even get me started on its version of Chaos.

I still have flashbacks of the obese Tails from issue three...
I can never unsee that ****.

I think I stopped reading right after they got to Angel Island.

Anyone else remember Megadroid? Second best letters section of any publication ever. (best was Computer and Videogames magazine because they actually told poeple their artwork was shite, and published the letters their parents sent in when they got the next issue and cried. http://www.andrewrevell.co.uk/hunterthedog.jpg)
