I found them this morning at Wal-Mart. (I've already painted in the missing details (and there are a lot...) with paint and Sharpies)

There seems to be four each of the ships in the case for a total of 12.

Enterprise (Refit, though they call it A, it's missing the A)
Enterprise D (with detaching saucer section, a nice touch)
Reliant
All in wave 1.

Klingon Bird Of Prey, Enterprise (ST09 version), Romulan Narada, and Saratoga are wave 2.

Well the original was refited into that design before the A was commissioned..

Oh no, I know they used the same ship design for the original refit (as shown in TMP, TWOK, and TSFS) as well as the A rebuild (TVH, TFF, TUC), my quibble was that the packaging calls it the U.S.S. Enterprise A, when it's not marked with an A and has the more bluish plating as see in TMP/TWOK, where as the A had more a whitish tone, etc. (I think they tried to make it the best of both worlds)

It's nothing that would fail the replica, in fact it's well deserving of a passing grade, but it just bugged me a bit is all. I'm not even a trekkie (I learned about the aztec paneling while trying to build a model of the NX-01) and I know a few who are, will nitpick this thing to death.

Ah! Good! Now you can see just how much detail *is* neglected. I had to paint in all of the fine details. Took about two hours to do it right, but there you have it. I'd really love to get an aztec template and do it right.

I'm no good with models past the construction and painting phase. My NX-01 looks terrible without it's decals. :( And I realize that the bulk of the work is the most important part, but to me it feels incomplete without it being all decked out.

That's why I had to paint this Enterprise. Once I get my hands on some aztec templates, I'm gonna make this thing look like it just stepped out of the films.

I have to, otherwise it'll make my OCD go into overdrive.

I'm getting lost in this aztec discussion. I have a feeling I am familiar with the idea, but have never used the term aztec with it before....

Do you have pics of your finished product??

Don't feel bad. I was completely lost when I first heard of it myself.

Aztec paneling is the body plating of the ship's construction. They never went into detail with it in TOS, but TNG, the movies, and Enterprise made it part of their ship's detail.

If you look at the filming models, or model kits you can buy, you'll see little panels like an intricate weaving all over the ship.

On the models and toys, this highly detailed feature is usually ignored because it requires a lot of work and time. So there are companies who made water slide decals that allow you to create that effect without the hard work.

As for a picture of my finished product... my camera is crap, and my scanner no longer works. If I can figure out something, I'll get it posted.

I finally found out why the hot wheels NCC-1701-A only has NCC-1701 on it. The simple answers is when they started designing the line they didn't have the rights to new movie version of the enterprise, so they were going to use the one from movies 1-3. But I guess paramount gave them the go ahead to use the design so that changed that version to NCC-1701-A but no one told the factory so the number on the ship stayed the same.

The 1701 refit is available currently.

The second wave, with the Bird Of Prey and new Trek movie Enterprise hasn't been released yet. Should be about another month according to the toy associate at Wal*Mart. He said that it's a Hot Wheels item, rather than a Star Trek item, so whatever their practice is for the rest of their toyline is, the Trek ships will follow as well. (Does anyone know how that process works? I'm not a HW guy, but I've heard the stories.)

All I need is the Reliant, the D, and the Bird Of Prey. I'll have my ST ship collection completed.

Unless they make something totally badass that has to be owned.

I already have the Playmates Enterprise, and a model of the NX-01, so there's no need for Hot Wheels toys of those, so my collection of this line should be quite limited. (NOTE: I have no idea if they're making a HW of the NX-01, I just mentioned it to cover all the bases.)

Oh...and the Excelsior. I would love to have that as well.

Thanks sto_vo_kor, I really didn't see too much of that series. Thanks for clearing that up for me :D

What was the designation for the Enterprise form First Contact then? NCC-1701-E?

Oooh. Yeah...I wouldn't mind a HW of the E.

So, my list would consist of:

Refit (own)
Reliant
D
Bird Of Prey
Excelsior
E

Uh no. It isn't fixed. That's the list of what I'd want in my personal collection. Not what they make. I don't care what they make, but I don't want the Defiant in my collection.

That's like putting words in my mouth.

Because it sucks. I never liked the little shuttlecraft from Hell. That could have something to do with me not liking DS9 as well, so who knows?
