Here's the real answer. It's a cartoon based on a another cartoon sponsored by a company that is looking to rehash and reuse a character name over and over agin.

My questions then are 2.

I'm a bit confused about the Beast Wars. Wasn't able to watch the whole series.

Are the Maximals and Predacons (is this correct?), are they Cybertronians?

Yes, both factions are from Cybertron. The Maximals are the decendants of the Autobots, and the Predacons are the decendants of the Decepticons.

Do the Beast Wars come before the 4 millions years? or after the present time? Surely, can't be in-between, because they are decendants.

The Maximals and Predicons decended from the Autobots and Decepticons long after the events in G1, Headmasters, Master Force and Victory. The Maximal crew of the Axion and their prersuers, the Predicons in their ship, travel back in time to prehistoric Earth some time after the Ark had crashed. Thus, they go from the future to the past.

After the great wars of Optimus Prime & Megatron, & then the following conflicts between Rodimus Prime & Galavtron, & the events of the Headmasters series, Victory series & Master Force series, The Pax Cybertronia was introduced.
The Pax Cybertronia was a peace treaty, in which the Autobots gained rule over the Decepticons & they eventually "died out", with the Decepticon survivors of the war either imprisoned for war crimes or given amnesty & allowed to change sides. Those given amnesty were forced to retire & swear aligance (sp?) to the Autobots. Though publicly it was shown that the past Decepticons were treated evenly, but the reality was very different. Decepticons were treated as second-class-citizens, & their anger at the Autobots carried on for generations.

Many Mega-Cycles later the "Maximal Upgrade" was introduced, and the energon problems that started the great wars were no longer an issue. Maximal bodies were smaller & much more energy efficient. It also set up a way for the Decepticons to become equal, all under one name. However this didn't work out. The Tripedicus council, descendants of Unicron (only speculated, claimed "to have... different origins"), carried on the Decepticons hatred for the "Maximals" & created a second faction, the Predecons (named after the subgroup of the Great War) from the descendants of the Decepticons. They did this secretly, operating without the Maximals knowledge, though eventually they caught on, though it was not announced publicly.

Optimus Primal, a descendant (and namesake) of Optimus Prime, was the commander of an exploration ship. One mission he was ordered by the Maximal elders to hunt down a group of Predacons as his ship was the only one near-by.

These Predacons were nothing more than rebels & convicts. Lead by a very intelligent 'con who, after accessing datatracks of the Great War, named himself Megatron so he could carry on the Original Megatron's plan to killing the Autobot's locked in stasis on pre-hominid Earth. This would tip the Great War in favor of the Decepticons & then they would have won & dominated over the Autobots. If G1 Megatron had survived the Great War he had planned on carrying this out himself but unfortunately for him, he didn't.

So, Megatron, self proclaimed "leader" of the Predacons, stole a ship & made his way to pre-hominid Earth, telling his crew it had enough energon to take over Cybertron, so he could carry out his mission without having to let others know what he was doing.
The Maximal ship the Axalon, along with it's crew & commander Primal, chased after them & ended up going back to past-Earth with Megatron's ship.
Now let the Beast Wars Begin.


Hope thats all you need to know, & enough to convince you to watch the show. It's well thought out & well written. If you can get past the first few episodes, which are pretty weak I admit, & can get into the storyline It is really worth it.
To summaries, Autobots became Maximals, Decepticons became Predacons, and Megatron is not the same Megatron as in G1.
They come from a Cybertron from the future but travel back in time to before the Great Wars.

Ravage does come in latter, & he's the only one (in the cartoon series) who is the same character as in G1. (as well as Starscream I guess)

It is in-between.After the great war ended they upgraded to Max's and Pred's enjoying pease for some time about 300 years [or 3000 I'm not sure] the Megatron of that time stoll a transwarp ship so he could find a source of energon to start the war again.The ship was capable of time travel and took them back to earths past.....to a time that humans were more like apes but long after the G1 Ark crached.

So sad that i didn't get to watch the beginning episodes.

Time to find DVD rip offs!
