I really dislike when companies just reuse previous elements of a figure in a new design - i.e. I really dislike the use of the Rage of Hercules forearms and the Hercules hands on this guy.

I really like the concept! Popeye as the bot, though?

Not sure how I feel about this... I'll need a better idea of how things are implemented. I'm hoping for a Six-Gun that won't be a jumble of parts that are left over in one mode or the other... Yet it is already apparent in those photos that two of the guns rely on removable handles that I'm sure could have been designed to just fold away when not in use.
And then there are the forearms and fists, which as others have stated look to just be a reuse of the parts from their Rage of Hercules set. Do those parts store anywhere when the rest of him is split up into various guns? Or do they just get tossed aside?
So I'm on the fence about this. I really want a Six-Gun. (And I'm hoping for a decent Slammer at some point.) And this one looks good. But it will be an utter fail in my opinion if it is too reliant on extra parts for either or both modes. (Heck, only extra part the original Six-Gun had was yet another gun for his robot mode to hold. Because when you're made of guns, what you really need is another gun!)

I usually don't like figures with odd proportions, but I like it on this character. The design is fun. I will definitely get it if it's not too high in price.

Excellent, although I agree there does seem to be a lot of redundant pieces floating around with this thing. TG23 arrived for me just today (and I think I'm
) I'd also like to see how the components might get put to use in Metroplex's city and mobile fortress modes.
Right now my biggest concern is whether Metroplex has enough holes for everything.

I don't have a Metroplex in had yet, so I shall admit to being no expert, but I'd question if he even has enough holes in robot mode.
This comes with two pairs of smaller (presumably) black guns, and one large (presumably) red gun. This is in addition to the single (if you have the Hasbro mass retail version) large red and two smaller black guns that Metroplex comes with. It looks like you're supposed to just toss his out of the box black guns. (Shame they couldn't have incorporated them somehow.)
So you use one pair of this set's smaller guns as new shoulder mounted guns. Then you have two choices of hand held weaponry: The other pair of smaller black guns, or Metroplex's large red gun and the large red gun from this set. If you go with the two smaller guns, you could take Metroplex's large red gun and mount it on his back, then pivot it down as an over-the-shoulder cannon. But then you're at the least still left with this set's large red gun with no place to go.

I haven't counted them up, but I think he's actually got more holes in city mode, although one/two become free in mobile fortress mode as you can sit the big red gun(s) on the deck.
I went for the Takara version so I've already got two of the big red guns. Then you've got X2 Toys' big gun/tank thing coming.
Crap. I think we need a bigger Metroplex.

Well, I was speaking more generally rather than specific to your case. (I did see where you specified TG-23.) If we do get specific to your case, now there's one more piece that is being made superfluous!
Don't care for the X2 Toys gun, myself. If they'd wanted to make a transforming gun, I'd rather that they'd made it turn into a robot, and made that a Six-Gun homage. (As long as the robot mode that resulted looked somewhat like the G1 robot, I'd have not minded that he wasn't made of multiple separate guns.) Instead they made it some weird tank thing that some people are calling Slammer. But personally, it doesn't say Slammer to me at all...

I like it quite a bit. I'm digging the "super deformed" proportions of it. It gives the impression that it is designed not to be taken too seriously.
It looks "fun" to me and it's a good compliment to Metro and his wildly enormous stature.
I'd buy for the right price.

I honestly have no idea if I like this or not. It's a neat concept, and one that I'm glad is being tackled, but I strongly dislike that it's TFC that's taking this on. They've done very little that's impressed me thus far.

I'm in the same boat, more or less. The design isn't horrible and it's a good character for someone to tackle. However, this is a TFC product as well... makes me fear I'll be paying twice as much for this as I will be for Metroplex only to find TFC is releasing an addon set for Sixgun to make it what it should have been in the first place.
I'll keep an eye on it and anticipate future news with moderately high hopes.

Yep, I'm getting this. Looks like TFC is pulling a Toyworld on me and making me want to buy nearly everything they create. This is gonna look badass on my shelf standing next to Metroplex (wait, did I say shelf? I meant floor cuz he's too big for my shelves
).

They need to fix the massive forearms and he'd be fine.

Same old TFC, a 3rd party company that's hard to love. They seem lazy and a bit disrespectful imo, from the comical reuse of parts, the 'upgrade' sets in the pipeline before the main set has even released, to their dull robot designs and abysmal packaging.

I like this, except for the forearms. With all the competition with Sixgun atm that could be all it takes to stop me from getting this.
Dull designs is an opinion, you're stating it like a fact
And what's wrong with the packaging?
This sounds more like a "haters gotta hate post" to me
TFC cop a lot of crap, and some of it is deserved, but not the stuff relating to the upgrade sets. TFC seem more interested in releasing "Neo" gestalts which cause the geewuners to bitch so they release sets that make their gestalts more G1. Rage of Hercules was made because of fan feedback, as was wings of Uranos, they just started working on WoU earlier is all. The sets are the result of the fandom, TFC, as a business, just capitalised on it.Banjo-Tron wrote:Same old TFC, a 3rd party company that's hard to love. Since when did I state any of that as fact? Obviously it's my opinion based on the 'imo' precursor to what followed, I thought that was sufficient. Yes, in my opinion I hold those beliefs to be true. And I quite agree that haters do and are going to hate. And people with a passing dislike passingly dislike. As for the packaging, c'mon man, it's dull as dishwater...

Maybe it's just me, but why does the box have to be lively, or whatever? As far as I'm concerned it could be a plain brown box with the toys name on it. As long as the toy inside is nice and safe that's all that matters. Yes a nice looking box can be cool, but it has nothing to do with the toy.
As for Sixgun, if TFC don't charge a stupid amount I might not be able to resist

I do agree regarding the boxes being non-essential, but it shows an attention to detail, and also for those that like to collect and display boxes it is always nice to have a more 'prestige' box. TFCs are pretty dull but they are leagues ahead of their 'sister' company Toyworld. Maniaking's box is an example of a decent one, but my favourites are probably the FansProject Headmasters, which is odd because you can't even see the toy. I just think they look cool.

Anyway I would quite like a sixgun, but I really can't see beyond those arms at the moment.

Never even noticed how dull TW's boxes were, just threw em in the bin! I do like the headmaster boxes, partly because there is no waste with them, and they do look cool. They are also among the few boxes I've kept, but more for ensuring the safety of my favourite figures when I inevitably move than anything else.Banjo-Tron wrote:Arctorro wrote:Sorry, was tired and missed the "imo" bitBanjo-Tron wrote:Since when did I state any of that as fact? Meh, I still like the other third party Sixgun being developed better, although we haven't seemed to have heard anything about it since last October, so hopefully it is still a thing...
