I'll believe April 5th when I see it- seems a tad too soon somehow.

On the other hand, the cinema trailer is finally up officially.

Actually Outpost Gallifrey is now reporting that it's been confirmed by the BBC. So bloody believe it. :P

And it is around the normal time as the season would finish around June which is when it normally starts in Australia.

Yay! Season 4, I'm really looking forward to this, especially since Davros is rumored to return.

And for the Doc Who newbies who wonder about Davros. Davros is the creator of the Daleks.

Here's a nice tribute to him:

That's funny. I have total misgivings about the season for that very reason.

That is indeed an awesome tribute. And sadly, far and away better than anything RTD can manage to do.

I'm looking forward to the new series. The last creation and it's creator. It's got to be cool. I just hope RTD doesn't write it. I Just don't want him to bring in Jack for an episode and jump Davros. Ewww

I was all jazzed up until I remembered I don't get BBC. lol. Sheesh. Looks like I'm waiting until :P Scifi gets it in maybe the fall. lol.

Actually, while channel surfing I saw a commercial on Sci Fi for the next season(or, at least Voyage of the Damned, if you haven't seen it yet). It said it'll be starting on April 28th. All I saw were clips from Voyage of the Damned; but I remember when they started showing season 3 they showed the Christmas special along with the rest of the season, so HOPEFULLY they'll be showing the entire season within a relatively similar timescale. :D

Sweet! No wonder I missed the commercial, I barely watch Scifi anymore. They don't have anything good on at all.

This season of Torchwood was a MASSIVE improvement over last season.

The only disappointment was they never followed through with that alien sleeper cell story. But it was still good never the less, and it's always good to see James Marsters.

Agreed on all points. Also I enjoyed the first ep of the new Who. Tate wasn't as annoying as I feared she would be.

Okay, I found myself a little disappointed with this episode. It all just seemed a little too kiddie. The "Adipose" seem like something more suitable for Sarah Jane.

Never had a problem with Donna, probably because I liked her in her first appearance, I think she'll fit in nicely.

To answer Mkall's question ... (highlight to read if you want to read POTENTIAL spoilers/rumours)

Rose will most likely be the underlying theme this year. The reason she's a ghost is because the barrier hasn't broken down yet. She'll appear to Donna throughout the season until the finale. As far as the finale goes the big rumour is Davros and the Doctor needing to be saved from him which results in Rose, Sarah Jane, Martha, Donna AND Jack (with a rumour of the rest of Torchwood as well) teaming up to save him.

Well I just got a chance to see the episode(yay for the internet!), and I thought it was OK(not great, but certainly nowhere near "Love and Monsters"). I mean, the Adipose were a bit too cutesy for my tastes. However, I did like the fact that it wasn't the all too common "I'll rule the universe!"-type villains, and that WAS a bit of a relief.

I think it would have done the episode a HUGE service if the Adipose just looked different(less like futuristic house-pets, and more like aliens).

However, I will say I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. The next one is gonna be great(love The Empty Child reference in the preview); and I can't wait to see what's going on with Rose.

Eh, it was alright. Didn't mind the adipose being cute, but I disliked the episode's almost smug loony-tunes feel. I think it was a combination of inappropriate comedic music, the rather poor actress who played the journalist and the Nanny's Wile E. Coyote death that spoilt it.

Not bad- certainly not 'love and monsters'. Pompeii in the next episode looks as if the series is going to... warm up. (Ho! Ho! ho!)

... one might say the more serious writing will explode onto screen. An eruption of pathos, even.

Ah, I kill myself.

Surprised no-one's said anything yet!

Much better episode- really excellent, with Tate showing her mettle. The references to the textbook characters made me giggle no end. Very nice touch.

I really enjoyed this one. We got to the emotional side of The Doctor again, faced with the moral decision to let everyone die because of his actions or save someone.

And I do think Donna is fitting in nicely.

But next week .... OOD!

Two quick thoughts, first off the "We're not married." running gag is going to get very old very quickly and secondly the "She is returning." line would have worked so much better if we didn't already know that Rose is back this year. I'd really like to believe that this was actually a reference to the Hand of the Rani scene from Last of the Time Lords, but we all know that ain't the case.

Could be a swerve. You never know.

Though it's pretty much a given it's Davros that's the big return this year.

Ood brains are squishy. Makes me wonder about the Ood ecology. What to they eat? Airborne plankton or such? It's nice that they fit into clothes so well, though. With the red light, I was worried that it might be some kind of rift.

The main problem I had with this episode was that it treated itself like it had something really profound to communicate. I wish it had communicated something more profound than "human prosperity is sometimes built on the suffering of others." Perhaps something more to the tune of "all civilizations are necessarily built by subjugating some internal or external population, although the means of subjugation can be given a pleasant veneer." Am I asking to much from a sci fi show? I hope not, because I've loved Who a long time.

My point is just that if they're going to act like they're saying something profound, they ought so say something profound.
