It's more the norm for young blokes to want to go with a car that has a bit of muscle. My area sees a lot of 17-24 year olds getting utes and doing them up, some actually use them to go camping, others just use them because ... ute. Those that don't tend to go for a car with a bit of grunt to it.
Rarely do you get a young guy go for a "practical" car. My first car was a 87 Mitsubishi Magna. Neither a ute, nor a car with grunt, it was all I could afford. And it was far from practical given it was an utter piece of ****. The next car however was an 87 VL Commodore which had grunt (V6). I also put a decent stereo in it.
Then I got older and as you'll find, your priorities change, it's no longer about getting from point a to point b in the quickest possible time, nor is it about looking "cool", you just want a good reliable car that doesn't cost much to run.
Hence why I now have a 2007 Toyota Corolla with clear coating that is breaking down.

Truth. Other changing priorities make you get a mini van, which I actually love.
In other news, you notice your old buddies duragrip is back?

Minivans are pretty diverse vehicles. One of those are what I'd want to probably go for. They're probably more useful than Sam Witwicky's first car.

Part of me suspected, but the lack of a He-Man/She-Ra incest fetish is throwing me for a loop here.
Is it really him? If so, what heathen god did Madeus anger and why must we all also be punished for his transgressions?
If its not actually him, then who amgered the heathen god, amd can we offer them up as a sacrifice in order to make this guy go away?

My 1st car was a 1984 Chrysler LeBaron. Bought it from a "friend" for $400. Piece of crap. But it had 4 good tires and a good engine, and back then that's all that mattered to me.Burn wrote:Rarely do you get a young guy go for a "practical" car. My first car was a 87 Mitsubishi Magna. As of this year, I have owned 11 cars in the last 17 years. They ranged from old beaters to pick up trucks to luxury vehicles (I was the only 20-year-old I knew who drove a Lincoln Town Car, and I f**king loved that car) to economical cars. Now I'll be 34 years old in a couple of weeks, and drive a Mercury Grand Marquis. I've been made fun of for driving an "old person's car" but you know what? This car is comfortable, safe, and it does have a pretty strong engine. And it's f**king immaculate. (Bought it from an old lady who took insanely good care of it, and I intend to do the same.) Would I like to own a sports car or a muscle car? Absolutely. What guy wouldn't? But only if I had the extra money. Of the 11 vehicles I've owned, 3 of them were Camaros, and they taught me that cars like that are basically giant toys, and I should own them only if I can afford 2 vehicles. They're not practical for anything but cruising around and having fun. Personally, if I had my choice of a dream muscle car, I'm not sure what I would choose. The original 1970 Challengers are pretty damn cool, I might try to find one of those. Or maybe a '78 El Dorado. But, I'd have to win the lottery 1st.

This is true, the majority of guys want a fancy car.
I've been involved with the local car show since 2010 (it was held at my workplace, let's not talk about this years...) and I've seen cars entered by young guys vs cars entered by older guys. The older guys clearly go for the more sports/muscle cars. The younger guys ... some will enter their utes that they're restoring, whilst some will enter a **** box with a massive sound system.

My first car was a Ford Fiesta. My second (current) is also a Fiesta, but 1 generation younger. I prefer practical cars over outrageously powerful monsters, they're more useful.

Okay. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, but there we are. Glad I didn't report it, but that was mainly because I don't agree with reporting posts.
I wonder if I've ever been reported? I know back in the day when the **** was hitting the fan at a couple of historical instances, I got a couple of warnings.

It's this guy. According to Burn, his IP address doesn't match up to Duragrip's. But I strongly suspect he is, just based on all the commonality between the two of 'em.
A wolf was sighted in our neighborhood (or lack thereof). So that's kinda awesome.
