Went and saw "The Number 23" starring Jim Carrey today and it is without a doubt the best Jim Carrey movie and one of the best suspense movies I have ever seen.
I highly recommend everyone on this site to see this movie.

I've always been suspicious about that number. It really does appear everywhere.
I can never just pick it out, though. I just notice it. Like the Dr. Pepper commercial, that's one of the obvious ones. Or when I worked at Domino's, and I'd always see the clock as 1:23 PM.
And I was born on June 23rd.

Looks interesting but I'll never go see it. After Batman and Robin I vowed to never give Joel Schumacher any more of my money ever.

honestly, it looks to me like a painfully bad attempt to capitalize on the success of stuff like the da vinci code and lost (in which 23 is one of "the numbers"), with a heavy dose of pi thrown in for good measure. plus it seems pretty obvious from the previews that it's going to be one of those stupid movies with a "surprise" ending where the main character has a split personality and is actually a killer, which is easily the most overused plot twist of all time.
oh, and i highly doubt it's really carrey's best role. have you ever seen eternal sunshine?

you know, the more i think about it, the more i realize how hilarious it'll be if it turns out i spoiled the ending to this movie by describing how lame and predictable it looks. if i did, i'll be happy to add spoiler tags to my previous post, along with the mandatory laughing smilies.

Seriously guys, even I had my doubts going in and I am a movie-goer who is very very hard to surprise or shock (in a good way), but this movie isn't like Da Vinci Code and I was on the edge of my seat wanting to know (since it was causing me displeasure in not knowing for once) how it would end.
Anyone with doubts about this movie will be greatly surprised and enjoyed, but if you still choose not to go see it then it is your loss and oh well.

so does that mean he isn't the writer of the book/killer, or am i reading more into your post than you actually said? because that's definitely the direction the preview seemed to be heading in. not that i'd see it even if he wasn't, as 1) i hate joel schumacher and 2) predictable or not, it just looked all-around terrible.

On the one hand, it's essentially my Lucky Number, on the other hand, it's made by Joel "Rubber Nipples" Schumacher.

A Ventura did rock though.
the guy who started this thread still hasn't really confirmed or denied my guess about the ending, if that's still the case when you get back could you tell me whether or not my prediction was right? because to date i've never predicted a "he doesn't know he's a killer" twist ending from a movie's trailer and been wrong (and i've guessed it on quite a few), and i want to know if that trend continues.

I find this to be the funniest quoted/statement ever. Apparently, according to FOK's theory High Command you could be starring in 23 and not even know it.
I am interested in it. I wear a lot of 'Air Jordan' stuff so I see 23 all the time, but it is cool when number patterns seem to show up out of nowhere...repeatedly, not that it has ever happened to me.
So is this movie high on the devil/satan arena, cause my wife won't see it then? The number of the beast is mentioned in the trailer, and that made her go...emm, probably not seeing it then hubby! Yeah, she doesn't like demonic heavy films like the Omen or Carrie.

look at their post counts. there are three posters using the name "high command" (though i'm still not entirely sure how they can all have the same name) - the original high command, shin, and mad asshatter. and as their sigs state, all three are currently banned for an indeterminate amount of time because of it. if i recall each one's post counts correctly, that's actually asshatter quoting shin.
still, i do agree that seeing "high command" agree with "high command" is quite funny.

Well, how about that?

I thought he was just trying to be funny, or make sure 'someone' agreed with him.
Shame, HC's derailments and activities are often quite funny. Sham or reality??? I haven't been paying attention, and may indeed have the word gullible on my forehead. Maybe I need to go look in the mirror.

A few things about the movie and some of your questions/statements.
Despite also my belief by the statement of 2/3 = # of the Beast, that was only a detrimental statement by a psychiatrist to Carrey's character. This movie does not have the Devil or any "End of Days" kind of things in it, so it isn't as your wife fears Tigertracks 24.
As far as Faceful of Kitchen is concerned, I don't know what about the commercials or trailers that gave you this idea of the ending, but I'm not one to either confirm nor deny this assumption. All I will say is that the movie focuses on a "average" man who is reading a book titled "The Number 23". At the start of the story he begins to see connections between the book's main character and himself and the movie then continues with Carrey playing both roles. Most of the blood and gore and darker-lighted scenes that you have probably seen on the ads and stuff is from his character in the book.

THANKS! 2/3 is not the number of the beast it is .6666666666666666666666 repeated
So it seems a silly representation in the movie that I am sure is explained away...decimal and repeating 6's forever would imply non compliance with the Bible's interpretation, I believe.
Thanks again.
