Marvel vs. Capcom 2 all the way 8) . Oh, and Gundam: Rise from the Ashes. And Shenmue was pretty cool. Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. Toy Commander was interesting. Borrowed Bangai-O off my friend, great game. Also borrowed Power Stone 1 and 2(he loves 'em), they're pretty cool.

But seriously, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is like the pinnacle fighting game to me next to Smash Bros. Brawl. I maxed out the number of hours logged onto the game, and unlocked all the alternate costumes. And I got it for probably around $20 back in the day, maybe around 2000 or 2001? Completely worth it, especially considering the PS2 version at the local EB is priced USED(and I'm not kidding) for $80.

Now I know what you're talking about. I tried wall-jumping up that shaft once, but gave up because I kept getting hit by rippers.

Super missles are your friend.

Yeah, the real b*tch about that climb, though, is jumping off the wall at just the right place that you can land on the side of the platforms blocking above.....that & if you can get up there that early in the game, those 2-legged giant hopper-bug things guarding the second power bomb up there will end you real quicklike if you can't get past them.

I might actually give that a go sometime. Just out of curiosity, did you find the entrance to the second part of Maridia on your own? That was the part that puzzled me the longest. The idea to try a power bomb in that glass passageway just dawned on me one day, after running around aimlessly for weeks!

IIRC, I was just running around setting bombs seeing if they opened anything....either that, or I thought to myself, "you know, with that being a glass tube, I bet it'd blow up." But it was so long ago I can't really remember.

I still hook up my SNES ever so often, mostly for FFVI, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana. I haven't really cared for Nintendo's consoles since then (handhelds not included.) It seems with each new system, I buy less games than the previous one. I don't have any intrest in getting a Wii either which is odd because it is the first console i've passed up since the Jaguar. It just doesn't have enough games that I could see myself owning. But the old grey (well, mostly yellow now) SNES beast still is one of my favorite systems.

Also, add me as a Dreamcast owner as well. I never get sick of playing Armada. It's the only game I still play on that system, It's too bad the sequel never saw the light of day.

The Super Nintendo is my favourite console by far. I had so many good times with it, and discounting Wild Arms, Xenogears Grandia, and Final Fantasy 7, have never been able to recapture the feeling I had when I started playing its games.

There were many games that stood out on the SNES, from platformers to RPGs, a lot of the lineup is superb. I have vivid memories of multiple playthroughs of Contra III/Super Probotector, Street Fighter II, Secret of Mana, and Joe & Mac Caveman Ninjas. Of course it had its dismal failures as well, but not every game can be perfect.

Terranigma, the last game I bought for the SNES, is my favourite game of all time. In terms of characters and gameplay it totally blew me away for the time it was made. Even the ending while very original, couldn't put me off with its bitter overtones, because it was just so well handled.

These days, I'd be very interested in seeing the Soul Blazer series revisted, especially if it tied into Terranigma. I wonder who owns the rights to it now that Quintet is defunct. :???:

And with a superb emulator like ZSNES available on so many formats, PC most notably, the SNES could be around with it's army of excellent games forever

Let us not forget great games like Sim City as well

The SNES had some great accessories as well. To me the Super Gameboy attachment was awesome, something that was even remade fore the N64 and GC.

And once when I was in a Funcoland just before GameStop boughtthem out I happened to browse through the SNES accessories and saw wireless controlers. Does anyone else know about these?

They had wireless controllers as far back as the NES. Boy were they ever a headache.

yeah, very good reason for that... it used infrared sensors...same kind that they use in TV remotes....had to have line-of-sight transmission, so if something got in front of you, or you were one of those players that jerked the controllers around alot, they wouldn't work too well. Nowadays they use radio frequencies, so they're a hella-lot more reliable.

& now for more stuff people probably already know.....

Did you know pencil lead is actually made of graphite?

Yes. He operates a compulsory interference directive, and is captain of the Decepticon battleship Negaprise.

No, the movie was called "The Wizard" or something to that effect. It was about a kid (Fred Savage!) who was in a bunch of video game tournaments, including one that featured Super Mario Bros. 3, several months before SMB3 was actually released.

It's the Power Glove, an actual but rare piece of Nintendo memorabilia. It's considered highly valuable amongst Nintendo fanboys.

In fact, the first person to buy a Wii in North America was wearing a Power Glove while he was buying it, and using the same hand to shake hands with Reggie Fils-Amie, the president of NoA.

You were right about the name of the movie, but Fred savage was friend to a kid that was....well I think he was autistic(sp?), & was awsome at playing games...in the movie.

I had a power glove once. It was pretty cool, but it didn't work too well. Don't know if it was just me or or the glove itself, but I could hardly even get the damn thing to work. & what's worse, they made a game specifically for it, Super Gloveball, & it was made to specifically calibrate the glove to play with it, & all it did was make the game glitch up when you used the glove. But then again, I might have not set the thing up right. I really don't know. That was back when game systems worked on magic & spit blown onto the cartridges.

I borrowed a power glove from a friend of mine back in grade school and basically spent a Saturday trying to get through Bomb Man's stage in MM1 with it.
If you moved your hand to the right, you moved right. You had to move your index finger up to jump, and wiggle your middle finger to shoot. Running, jumping, and shooting at the same time was almost impossible.
