Now I know what you're talking about. I tried wall-jumping up that shaft once, but gave up because I kept getting hit by rippers.
Nemesis Cyberplex wrote:Yeah, the real b*tch about that climb, though, is jumping off the wall at just the right place that you can land on the side of the platforms blocking above.....that & if you can get up there that early in the game, those 2-legged giant hopper-bug things guarding the second power bomb up there will end you real quicklike if you can't get past them.
IIRC, I was just running around setting bombs seeing if they opened anything....either that, or I thought to myself, "you know, with that being a glass tube, I bet it'd blow up." But it was so long ago I can't really remember.BumbleScream84 wrote:Nemesis Cyberplex wrote:Yeah, the real b*tch about that climb, though, is jumping off the wall at just the right place that you can land on the side of the platforms blocking above.....that & if you can get up there that early in the game, those 2-legged giant hopper-bug things guarding the second power bomb up there will end you real quicklike if you can't get past them.
I might actually give that a go sometime. Just out of curiosity, did you find the entrance to the second part of Maridia on your own? That was the part that puzzled me the longest. The idea to try a power bomb in that glass passageway just dawned on me one day, after running around aimlessly for weeks!

yeah, very good reason for that... it used infrared sensors...same kind that they use in TV remotes....had to have line-of-sight transmission, so if something got in front of you, or you were one of those players that jerked the controllers around alot, they wouldn't work too well. Nowadays they use radio frequencies, so they're a hella-lot more reliable.Tekka wrote:They had wireless controllers as far back as the NES. Boy were they ever a headache.

But I forgive him.
Until I meet him in a dark alley...
Then he'll pay.

Then I shall name him:
Nemesis Picard.

Was there a whole movie devoted to that thing

You were right about the name of the movie, but Fred savage was friend to a kid that was....well I think he was autistic(sp?), & was awsome at playing games...in the movie.Shadowman wrote:OptimusN1701 wrote:Wow, that was, just stupid

No, the movie was called "The Wizard" or something to that effect. It was about a kid (Fred Savage!) who was in a bunch of video game tournaments, including one that featured Super Mario Bros. 3, several months before SMB3 was actually released.
It's the Power Glove, an actual but rare piece of Nintendo memorabilia. It's considered highly valuable amongst Nintendo fanboys.
In fact, the first person to buy a Wii in North America was wearing a Power Glove while he was buying it, and using the same hand to shake hands with Reggie Fils-Amie, the president of NoA.

I had a power glove once. It was pretty cool, but it didn't work too well. Don't know if it was just me or or the glove itself, but I could hardly even get the damn thing to work. & what's worse, they made a game specifically for it, Super Gloveball, & it was made to specifically calibrate the glove to play with it, & all it did was make the game glitch up when you used the glove. But then again, I might have not set the thing up right. I really don't know. That was back when game systems worked on magic & spit blown onto the cartridges.
