I wouldn't say terrific but he was perfectly fine. I enjoyed watching him.

No, $400 million is usually what most big-budget movies make at the box office. $200 million is a pretty damn large budget, and only a handful of movies have a budget larger than that.

Am I the only one who thought Marlon Wayans was terrific?
I wouldn't say he was terrific, but he was pretty funny. I just have personal issues with the Wayans Bros. They indirectly caused Epic Movie, and directly caused White Chicks and Little Man.
And I just always thought the Snake Eyes/Scarlett thing was really freaking cute. He ruined that a little bit. He stalks her for half the movie and she ends up liking him. Seriously,he just comes up to her like,"You know if you like guns, you'd like my dick!"
The whole affair was very creepy. That would've been a law-suit in real life.

I loved White Chicks and Little Man. I have both on DVD. I grew up with the Wayans on my TV all the time, so I guess I'm biased. However, as acting goes, Marlon's performance was better than expected, and hopefully will shut up a few of the naysayers.
And I fail to see how he ruined the Snake/Scarlett thing, really. He also didn't stalk her, and his attitude was far from "Here's my dick." I think you're reeeeeeally reaching there. Like stretching to the moon kinda reaching.
And in real life, it might have been considered harassment by some people (though I doubt it), but this IS fantasy. It's a movie, a science fiction movie.
We're supposed to have fun watching it.

Re: Thee G.I.Joe movie thread (Spoilers contained within)
Saw it yesterday. Two words(well, three): Fun and awsome
. Seriously, it was just like the 80's cartoon had come to life, only with a tad more violence thrown in. Plus, there was little to no toilet humor, and the course jokes seemed to be kept to a minimum. Why couldn't Transformers have had a similar treatment? Anyway, some random thoughts:
-Snake Eye's mouth through the mask, it does look stupid. They should have made it looser around that area, similar to Spider-Man.
-There was some cheap looking CG in there, but there was a lot of it, so I guess it's understandable.
-Cobra Commander's mask, ugh. His voice after he put the mask on, ugh some more. I'm not a hardcore Joe fan, so I'm still on the fence about them essentially merging Dr. Mindbender and Cobra Commander into one being. After all, I thought it was Dr. Mindbender for the longest time. Once they revealed that's who it was, I thought the voice worked out good. They could have done without the monocle though. Him being Baroness's sister is ok I guess, as it does tie the three characters together, and it is a movie meant for a general audiance after all.
-Snake Eyes driving the Polar Battle Bear thing outside and immediately shooting down a missle? That makes very little sense, but dang that was pretty cool!
-Ripcord, very fun. I don't have an attachment to his previous characterization, so I liked him.
-Heavy Duty, why not Roadblock?
-They killed Covergirl, for seemingly no reason. Odd move.
-The various vehicles were very reminiscent of the vehicles of old. Good move there.
-I agree, Storm Shadow can easily come back. He was dowsed in cold water after all.
-The Joes getting captured in Paris was mercifully short. I hate it when they do that in movies: the bad guys get away, and the good guys suffer for it. It must be some kind of cliche'.
-The Accelator Suits. When I first saw them, I didn't like them. But they were used minimally, and with good effect. Plus, that scene was all kinds of awsome. A highlight for sure.
-Speaking of that scene, the Hummer. M.A.S.K. anyone?
-Zartan as President is a good plot twist.
-The wipes to the flashback were well done and well integrated.
I think that about wraps it up, but my brother told me something that his friend told him:
We never see Storm Shadow kill his sensei. All we see is him running away. I guess in the comics Zartan killed Storm Shadow's sensei. They could easily do that in the second film if they wanted to.

no Roadblock b/c like with many of our favorite TF characters, Hasbro didn't renew/keep the rights to the name (like dumbasses) and thus created Heavy Duty after that happened during the 80's cartoon/comics. [Annoying that 2/3 insecticons names got changed for the upcoming TRU G1 re-issue)
I agree with pretty much everything else u said though. Esp. SE's mouth 'thing' on his mask, now the Joe fans can share our pain with Prime's mouth -hah! Iconic characters, but Paramount finds someway to screw them up & Hasbro sits back and let's them. Also didn't care for CC's mask at the end. And u do realize that the real Dr. Mindbender made a cameo right?
Saw the movie again last nite (snuck in -shhh..don't tell anybody). It's just too cool not to see again!!! COOOOOBRA!!!!!!! <in my best Latta voice>

Don't blame Hasbro for everything. There are copyright and trademark laws in play as well. That's no easy feat.

Paramount was just the distributor, they didn't screw up anything. As for Hasbro, it's their property, if they're happy with it, they'll let it slide.

Re: Thee G.I.Joe movie thread (Spoilers contained within)
Ok, You guys may hate me and this is JUST AN OPINION. This film was TOTAL GARBAGE. Wow, it may be the corniest, worst written, non-thought out piece of garbage since ROTF. I mean, I was embarrassed FOR the crappy actors WHILE watching the film. I would like to say that I liked even ONE part of it however, I did not. Useless cheap special effects, all the Joes uniforms were AWFUL and Stormshadow was a JOKE. How in the hell do you screw up that costume? Just wondering... I mean, its a 30 DOLLAR NINJA SUIT WITH A COBRA LOGO ON THE LEFT BREAST. Not a damn hooded pretty boy with a freakin skirt. CC was AWFUL. I don't know...I think this film is a WASTE of film and money and feels like it was made SPECIFICALLY to sell toys to a bunch of kids who don't have a clue what the hell Gi-Joe really is is. A futuristic, half-assed, cliche attempt at what could have been a great movie if the right people got ahold of it and the cast was worth a damn. I SERIOUSLY think the Street Fighter movie was better and I HATE that film!
IMO...2 THUMBS WAAAAYYY DOWN.

You do realize this will be met with negativity, correct?
You could've posted this in General Discussion, or a G.I. Joe thread, something akin to that.
Posting this here, seems to me like it's bait.
As for the topic at hand, G.I. Joe and ROTF are running neck and neck for me. I'll be there at midnight when they hit DVD.

meh, it all comes down to personal taste.
To me Wild Hogs absoloutely owns TF, TF:RotF and G.I. Joe.
But you know, that's just my own personal preferences.

It did. It was even better than TF 1 story and direction-wise, but at least it didn't own TF 1.

Well, Tim Allen's character had a wicked skull motif on his bandana. My little brother has the movie on DVD and forced me to watch it. It was a fun movie, though cheesy in a family safe way at times.

I'd like to see G.I. Joe soon and see how another childhood favourite fares on the big screen.

When it is all said and done, the box office will say who the real victor is.
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

Re: GI Joe absolutly owned ROTF
trust me, you don't want a RAH cobra Commander in your live action film. All he did was shout threats, hardly followed up on them, create over-the-top-doomed-to-fail schemes that even Destro sometimes hated (such as his bit with using an expensive laser to put art on the moon with no real purpose other than to feed his ego), and gradually lost the loyalty of his men. He was pretty much an incompitent goofball (like his followers) that would sometimes come close, but then close just doesn't cut it. The one thing that was lacking from Cobra Commander was the one thing that made him interesting: the mystery. We all want to know what he looks like behind the mask yet we know we won't and should not. Here we did not get that. Heck we see his face and learn who he really is/was.
If I wanted him to be like any Cobra Commander, it's Resolute Cobra Commander. He got stuff done and made good on his threats to keep his men in line.

sideshow collectibles' cobra commander was a perfect rendition of what a realistic cc should look like.... i dont know why they went with the design in the movie....
....and i guess from now on cc's real name is rex.... stupid.

Re: GI Joe absolutly owned ROTF
What I meant by the Cobra Commander from the cartoon was the mystery. I dont like that they showed his face and who he was. And I really do think it absolutly owned ROTF: superior acting, directing and plot. Michael Bay should take a lesson from Stephen Sommers. But i will acknowledge that shooting 30ft robots is harder than shooting people. And as far as the comment on the box office numbers, who cares? GI Joe may or may not beat ROTF in box office numbers but it is already far superior movie wise.
