Rob Zombie's remake of the movie that created a genre comes out tonight.

Who else is going to see it?

All the reviews I have read about point to one thing.
It sucks.

Of course that is a critics opinion and I never go by their opinions.

Can you really compare Rugrats and Halloween though?

Anyway, at least the Rob Zombie remake will be a hell of a lot better than the original Halloween, when I first saw it I thought it was a joke.

No cos they are two different genres, but it just shows that critics have (sometimes) no idea of good movies.

No, usually horror movies suck.

But I will agree, I don't go by what critics say. I'm more than capable of coming to my own opinions about movies.

Rotten Tomatoes only gave Transformers a 57%. I certainly didn't go by that! But usually I think they are right. Just not on TF.

The Beach Theater in St. Pete Beach showed Godzilla vs King Kong last weekend. It ROCKED! \m/ \m/

Anyway, I love horror flix, but I hate remakes. So I don't have any plans on watching this. I loved the orig. It was perfect.

I don't mind someone taking the premise from another movie and making one similar, it's just when they give it the orig name. Like the Dawn of the Dead remake. It was ok, but it wasn't the same movie, so they shouldn't have named it that. The ending was different, the feel was different. I have the same worries about this. Also, I think RZ is way overrated, but my boy swears to him and is seeing Halloween tonite.

Oh, for the uninformed, I'm talking about Halloween :P

I've just seen the new Halloween Movie on Tuesday when somebody from Aint it Cool News reported the "Work Print" was leaked on the Internet. The quality was DVD quality with the exception of the Time Stamp being blurred out at the top of the film. The rape scene (Disturbing scene to watch) is in the "Work Print" but it's not in the Theatrical verison. The Escape scene (Not in Work Print) was added in it's place. There is a cameo in Rob Zombie's Halloween. Danielle Harris who is best known to play Laurie Strobes daughter in Halloween 4 and 5 is playing Laurie Strobes friend Annie Brackett.

All I can say is another classic movie RUINED! The ending will be different in the Theatrical version...

At the end of the movie Michael Myers has a knife at Laurie Strobes throat and Dr. Loomis is pleading with Michael Myers to drop the knife and let her go. Michael Myers drops the knife and lets Laurie go and she runs towards Dr. Loomis. Dr. Loomis thanks Michael Myers for doing the right thing and Dr. Loomis and Laurie walks towards the police car. Michael Moore follows them and the Cops gun him down. Dr. Loomis screams at the Cops and runs towards a fallen Michael Myers. The camera pans out and screen turns black and last thing you hear is a recording of Michael Myers at age 10 asking Dr. Loomis a question at Smith Grove's Hospital.

A small taste of difference between the Classic and the re-imagined Movie...

(Carpenter)
Michael Myers is the middle child of Donald and Edith Myers (Donald and Deborah in the remake). Michael has two sisters, Judith Margaret (eldest) and Laurie (youngest). The family resided in a middle to upper middle class home in the mid-west suburban town of Haddonfield, Illinois and Michael was considered bright for his age, learning how to read speak rather quickly. It wasn’t until he reached the age 5 that he started to quickly lose some speech and began to show signs of Autism (preoccupation with parts of objects, staring off into space).

(Rob Zombie)
His father walked out on the family and Michael lives with an abusive man who is his mother's boyfriend, his mother, and his sister Judith. His mother is a stripper and an escort. While loving, she does nothing to stop Michael's abusive relationship with her boyfriend and Judith. Michael is severely bullied at school because of his mother’s occupation and home. The result of all this endless abuse is that he begins to kill animals out of anger, which is classic Serial Killer or Psychopath behavior.

(Carpenter)
Michael Myers kills Julie with the Clown Mask

(Rob Zombie)
Michael Myers kills Julie with the "William Shatner's" Mask

(Carpenter)
Michael Myers steals the "William Shatner's" mask from a hardware store.

(Rob Zombie)
Michael Myers gets the mask from Julie's Boyfriend...

(Carpenter)
Michael Myers kills his older sister...

(Rob Zombie)
Michael Myers kills the whole family except for Laurie and his Mother... His mother committs suicide from a broken heart...

Rob Zombie's vision of Michael Myers is nothing more then a Serial Killer or Psychopath instead of a Supernatural Boogey Man with an untold rage and evil in his eyes...

We completely disagree, I don't see how he ruined it at all.

and Michael wasn't supernatural until The Curse of Michael Myers.

Everything about this movie is better then the original.

It had more story and depth.

Explained why Michael liked masks.

Explained why he's so screwed up in the head.

Explains more then the original did.

It was more violent and gorey.

Rob portrayed him in a light that made you feel almost bad for him at times.

At first he had no intention of killing Lori because she was the only one he cared about besides his mom and the only other person besides his mom that didn't treat him badly or neglect him.

It sounds like you went into this movie expecting a clone of the original and that's your own problem, not Rob Zombie's or anyone else's.

To enjoy this movie you had to imagine that it was a new movie because that's what it is.

I disagree! If you're going to re-imagine a classic movie. Make sure you stay true to the classic other wise it will be panned by the fans and the critics. The last few re-imagines or remakes of classic movies like Invasion (Invasion of the Body Snatchers - original and 1978 or 79 remake are the best), War of the Worlds (original 1953 still the best), The Fog and now Halloween were panned by the critics and fans of the genre for not living up to it's classic roots. Just because the movie was more violent and gorey doesn't make it better then original. Movies like Poltergiest and The Entity don't rely on graphic violence or gore to scare people but rely on the unknown to scare people. The new Halloween by Rob Zombie is nothing more than the same old tired Hollywood slasher formula with more nude and sex scenes with graphic violence. I can't wait to see what Hollywood is going to do with the re-imagine vision of "The Day of the Earth Stood Still" starring Keanu Reeves as Klatuu...

Is Keanu actually in the remake? I didn't even know they were remaking it, which is a damn shame

Just like the remake of Escape from New York, that just shouldn't happen.

But honestly, if Rob made this movie like the original everyone would go "its just a carbon copy!!" like everyone did with the remake of the Omen.

No matter what he did, he'd get knocked by someone.

And this isn't the 70s or 80s anymore.

Psychological things don't "terrify" people that much anymore in movies.

Rob did a damn good job scaring a SOLD OUT theater.

We had to go to three different theaters to find one that wasn't sold out.

So I think he must have done something right and I loved the movie.

I love Michael Myers and I love the original movie. I thought the new movie was allright, but he reminded me too much of Jason. Which isn't a bad thing, but that's not how I see Myers. Myers was always more a creepy sneak through the background kind of guy, and in the new movie he's just a psychopath charging through walls and doors and tearing the place apart.

Good movie for what it is, but I don't really see much Michael Myers in it.

Here's some of the Myers masks and costumes I've made, like I said, I'm a Myers nut.

from scratch. :P

It would take way to long to detail how to make a latex mask in this thread. However the info's on the net if you're really curious how they're made. All latex rubber masks are made pretty much the same way. Paint techniques and hair application techniques can vary alot, but the basic construction of them is pretty much the same.
