Think I've finally out-grown it.

Welcome to the General Discussion area where just about anything goes! This area is designed to discuss all matters and does not necessarily have to be Transformers related. Please keep topics relevant.

Think I've finally out-grown it.

Postby Sherade » Sat May 16, 2009 8:54 pm

Well, it's been a good while since I last was here, my head is spinning over all this news and the new layout.

Thing is, I think I've finally out-grown the larger part of Transformers.

I have only recently bought a G1 Megatron for $10.

I don't think this is unusual, I suppose it was bound to happen.
I will always fondly remember Transformers, I mean they aren't going anywhere and I intend on the occasional purchase. I won't be binge buying and wasting (sorry, but it was true) my money on kid's toys. I mean that in a totally kind way, I mean in my situation I can't afford to buy so many anymore, they are neither necessity nor priority. I mean when you need to pay for -driving- school and have a band to tend to you seem to keep a tighter check on finances and being in school all week isn't helping.

I will not be selling any of my stuff and intend on taking the best care of it until my kids can have their turn, and hopefully it'll still be aorund so they can have the same experience.

In whatever case, don't expect me to leave either, I'll still be first in line for ROTF.

My transformers commitment was dwindling until the shows started coming onto DVD sets. And i havent stopped buying any seasons since then. Although i havent bought a TF toy for myself in quite sometime. But i do buy the odd inexspensive trinking like TF armada Gumball machine or an Optimus Flash light or posters etc. I do get from friends and family for bdays and xmas etc collectable tf stuff like 20th Anniversary Prime or mighty mugs.

As we are all TF Fans from firsthand experience, I'm pretty sure our TF interests never dwindle out. Sometimes we won't be fully fledged into collecting or the hobby, but it's still a hobby that we can fall back on.

Whatever decision you make is a good decision. Plus, one less person competing on Transformer Ebay Auctions is always a good thing :P

Well I'm not the most experienced in the field. In fact I've done it once and am never going to do it again. Let's just say if it looks to good to be true, then it probably isn't true. And collecting G1's... well they aren't going to get any cheaper, haha :(

The truth is, you will never out-grow Transformers. Believe me when I say I thought I did when I started building models. TFs may not always be my big focus, but I almost always go back to it. Right now, I'm into building anime resin kits so the TF binge has slowed down a bit, but once Botcon and ROTF hit, I think I'll be going full swing again.

School is very important so always make sure education comes first.

A few years ago I has a substantial collection of toys, DVDs and comics. Since then, a bit of the Transfan spirit in me wore out, and I pared down my collection some. I used to have all the US comics in single issues as well as all the crossovers with GI Joe and the G2 comics too. I've changed them all over to the trade paperbacks Titan came out with. I no longer have any of the DVDs either, except for my favorite series, Beast Wars, and the 20th anniversary 2 disc set of the movie. I don't have the 2007 movie on DVD. I might get it, if RotF is good. As for my toys, I had around 200 of them including all the lines and the Alternators, now I am down to 3 Primes, 3 Megatrons, Black Convoy, Armada Jetfire, a few Alternators, and the Hot Rod hard hero. And I am quite content with them. :) I returned to posting here after a 5 year absence, and I also found the changes a bit dramatic, though it shows that the place is keeping up with the times. :)

You're still young, so you're just moving on to different things. I was a huge collector fo Transformers as a kid, then G1 dwindled away and I had no interest in Beast Wars, but I always like Transformers. Even when I paid no attention to the toys or the cartoons, they always were special to me. Then one day in my late 20's I bought one of the TRU reissues and boom, right back into it. I'm not as obsessive as I was a few years back, but even if I don't get as much, I will always like Transformers.
