It Was Present Day For The Time? I Thought It Was Later....

That Means That They Stayed On Earth For Twenty Years, What The Heck Were They Doing Here For All That Time, I Figured They Went Home For A While...

According to the movie they did. In that 20 years, a whole new heap of bots had come about (Hot Rod and the like), Prime grew a Matrix that he never had prior *cough*continuityerror*cough*, Autobot City had been built and the Decepticons found time to pull their **** together to take over Cybertron and move the Autobots off to the planet's two moons (which also weren't there before the movie).

Also, if you watch the Japanese filler, "Scramble City", the Decepticons are building Trypticon while the Autobots put the finishing touches on Metroplex. Also in that time, Ultra Magnus becomes City Commander on Earth. Just go watch Scramble City & you'll see what I'm, talking about. Be warned though, it was never finished, so we don't know how the fight between Metroplex & trypticon turns out. Japan tried to finish it in a toy commercial. Stupid...........

Also in the 20 year interim, the Robot Masters war took place didn't it? I mean it must've since it was set in G1 Convoy's time...

I thought the Robot Masters part was some kind of time traveling, universe crossing thing, becuase Convoy and Beast Convoy and Beast Megatron are all there, and Gigant Bomb is some robot from the future, and Star Saber is there too. I'm not too swift with the Japanese continuities, but these guys all come from different time periods, don't they?

From what I gather it ivolves time travel, though that doesn't rule out the posibility that it was all the other characters who traveled to G1 from various points in time.
