There is this one bridge that connects Deleware to Jersey on I-95

It scares the hell out of me because its so high above the water

Back in July 1983 there was this bridge in Connecticut that was only s few towns over that collapsed it was on I-95 A section fell because one of the pins that held up that section of the bridge rotted away

A teacher I had in High School was on the bridge the night it collpsed he told us that he could see cars going over and he was like the third car away from the edge

Wow, thats screwed up.

Looking at the video, it looks like the end of the bridge closest to the camera was the first bit to collapse. Then followed the rest of the bridge near simultaneously.

So it makes me wonder, why did the supports give out, I wonder if the supports were detonated. But then, there was no smoke from the detonation, the bridge just seemed to fall.

Thats messed up.

Apparently, a woman was on the phone with her sister. Her sister said the bridge in front of her collapsed, and they were disconnected.

They haven't been able to reach her since.

Did you guys ever hear of that department store in South Korea that just collapsed one day? Five stories, and killed 500 people. Turns out it was somewhat shoddy construction and dragging enormous ac units over the roof that weakened one of the pillars. They discovered that almost EVERY BUILDING in Seoul was crappily constructed. They had to overhaul hundreds of buildings.

But this is America. We aren't supposed to stand for this. Not saying the Koreans aren't worthy of good buildings, but we're supposed to be a highly industrialized nation here.

That's where I saw it. I can't believe I had never heard of it! 500 people is a really big deal! That would make me nervous if I lived in Seoul.

I mean, was anyone really surprised that Bushie would pull a stunt like this? He spends nearly a minute and a half talking about what happened, and what he says he'll do (but probably won't), then somehow managed to turn the situation into an opportunity to slam the Democrats.

Of course, if Fixed Noise does do a piece, I'll bet ya anything they'll find a way to twist it to make the incident the Democrats fault.

It just goes to show you how much of a concern this really is for him when, within a minute of discussing the situation with reporters and what he plans to do about it, he goes completely off track and starts talking about something not even relevant to the discussion.

It pissed me off how he immediately went into defense mode and went off on a blame game. Great speech, bub. You know, a few years ago I was a staunch republican. As right-wing as you get. Thanks to the Republicans in power I am no longer a right-winger. They have embarrassed me to no end.

The president should've just said his cliched speech and gotten out of sight.

So much like this thread. Sorry, I think the tragedy is sadder than the blame game, which is nothing new from either side.
But that's not what this thread was about, there's plenty of time for the blame game later.

This administration has spawned more stupidity and loss of common damn sense from both sides than any in recent memory, it's extremely laughable.
