I still love my City Commander despite it aging in comparison to newer TF offerings. It has it's flaws, but it's everything I want in an Ultra Magnus figure. Especially it being an armorformer with a white prime base.

That said, it's not worth the price point it's commanding at this point, white prime included. It was worth the $80 I paid. It's not a $150 set like I see on ebay at times.

But we'll see what Toyworld does here. It'll likely be better than CC because CC was made a long while ago as an addition to another figure. It'll have to be amazing for me to even consider it, though.

However, if they made a Galvatron, I'd be all over it. At least Magnus has a Prime version an even that Transformazing version. Galvatron, Toyworld. Get on it. G1 is preferred, but I'll take IDW.

This is getting a bit off topic, as it isn't really talking about the Toyworld offering, but given all of the other people expressing either love or hate for City Commander, I have to say that I myself still love my City Commander, in both robot and vehicle modes, and it would take something absolutely freaking amazing to make me ever consider replacing him.

And to the chap who said Fansproject would have been better off if they had not worried about a trailer, and just made armor for the robot... Then that isn't Ultra Magnus. Perhaps I'm being too much of a G1 fanboy here, but part of what makes Ultra Magnus Ultra Magnus is that his vehicle is just the same cab as Optimus, but he has a different trailer and it forms armor for him. And in that respect, City Commander hits all of the right marks for me.

(I'll agree that the BFG is a bit of a waste, and it is a minor pity that plastic couldn't have been put to better use... But, as I sad, it is only a minor pity.)

I think as one of the first big 3rd party projects, City Commander was amazing. That they took an official toy and upgraded it so much to the extent that people passed on it the first time and gladly paid £80 for the reissue/United version when it eventually came around, is a testament to how well it worked. Looking at CC now, in comparison to the multitude of newer products designed in the half-decade (more?) since City Commander was designed, sure it looks poor.

I'm really hoping for a proper Classics Ultra Magnus, and I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

I still stand by what I said: I want the cab to turn into its own robot.

HOWEVER, I also agree with those who dislike the parts-forming. It didn't bother my on my G1 toy at all, but it bothers me a lot on FP City Commander. I love that mold (have the real FP release, plus a transparent Diaclone-colored KO and and almost all white KO), but it just isn't fun for me to transform (yes, despite my age, while I do buy some of these as display pieces, I really still like to have fun transforming them).

To that point, the not-Throttlebots are solid and fun to transform, so my hopes are high for this piece.

I think, ideally, I'd picture this design as being Don's design, with Alex's well-worked out transformation scheme, where the trailer becomes a part of the body (like Titanium). However, I'd also like the trailer to be able to separate and be it's own robot, too. Something like Armada Magnus (I think I'm remembering the right one), where there isn't parts-forming, the trailer becomes a solid body, and the cab can be part of that body (sort of headmaster+torso) or be its own robot.
