And yet I'll bet you went to see it anyway.

Oh yeah, thats correct since they didn't get the guy we all wanted to voice the only character in the film that talked a lot.
They listened to us a bit and I'll say the movie rocked. You can't expect everything to stay the same. We all grew up since we first started playing with our TFs and guess what TFs grew up into big bad live action robots

A wise man who goes by the alias of Seibertron once told me that you can't give an honest opinion about something that you never saw. I said that I didn't want to support something that had complete disregard and disrespect for the fans, and that I had a major chance of not liking. So what id I do? (See sig). I paid my admission for Live Free and Die hard and in the very same visit to the Theatre, a Freindly employee allowed me to check out the Transformers movie. Problem solved. I can now be truthful and honest.
I also love this franchise and I only want the best for it.
Wow, even your honesty is dishonest. Good job.

This also proves the Geewunners wrong again. This movie made more money ALREADY than the G1 movie ever made in the theaters.
Hot_Rod in another thread pretty much summed up this argument in a nutshell:Other factors need to be taken into consideration. Like how the original was a kids animated movie and kids have to beg their parents to take them and buy their tickets, and if you were a teen back then your would have been made fun of for seeing a children's movie. Now all those people are grown up and nostalgia has made Transformers a more acceptable hobby (somewhat). And then there's inflation. There's also the fact that most people going to see the new movie were children during that era and are now grown up with disposable incomes. Then there is also the fact that it is the first week out and is something entirely new and never seen before.
There are alot of factors to consider.
IMHO I'd say that no matter what you want to think about the success of the original movie or lack thereof, it was obviously popular enough to instill enough love of the franchise to create a fairly massive fanbase, which I would say would be a better deciding factor as to how popular the original movie was than just using the raw box office numbers. If nothing else, were it not for the popularity of G1 in the 80's this movie would have not been made...end of story.
Personally, When the original movie came out I wanted to see it, & probably would have multiple times, but I didn't even get to see it once because I was a penniless child & was dependant on parents that were so tight you could stick coal up their arses & 2 weeks later you'ld have diamonds. I didn't get to see it unitll college.
QFFT!

$121 million dollars worth of people (before opening weekend) trumps your "disregard". Which pretty much means not as many people care about your G1 perfection as you may think.

Yeah, but the amount they listened to the fans is somewhat equivalent to a parent making their kid a salisbury steak at home because the kid wanted a cheeseburger happy meal at McDonald's. They got the ground beef they wanted, but no bun, brown gravy instead of ketchup & mustard, no pickles, no fries, no soda, & most important, no toy. & even if the kid like salisbury steak...it's still not a cheeseburger happy meal.Spartanion wrote:Grimshock wrote:Actually, this is too bad. And it hasn't even hit the UK yet. Dammit! Sorry. I rekon there will be plenty more money comming in from this cash cow.
And can we please stop saying things like world wide releases when it doesn't have world wide releases yet.
Yes, I'm a brit. Yes, I'm disgruntled. Yes, I feel cheated.

You know, I think this is the first time we've agreed on anything. And personally, I find that a lot more scary than the accuracy of your statement.
