Transformers the game (I Feel cheated)

Postby Electron » Wed Oct 03, 2007 2:19 pm

I brought transformers the game the other day, because i saw in a posting of the game, and i saw you can play as G1 Optimus Prime, so i unlocked this feature.

But i was really disappointed because he doesn't even transform or his weapon, doesn't fire a massive laser beam type thing, like he did in the G1 Cartoons.

So i was just wondering doe's anybody else feel disappointed, as well

What disappointed me most was the inability to play as any transformer in any mission. But I wasn't too disappointed as I didn't have any great expectations in the first place.

I was expecting the game to suck. It was fun to fly around as Starscream and blow up buildings, and run through the city as Megatron firing rockets into more buildings and vehicles, but other than that it was only good for a single play through. I didn't much care for the actual missions. :P

I would of preferred it if you could customize weapons, and there was a G1 Mission, in which u had to fight along side and against G1 characters

Play Transformers Tatakai on PS2. Be warned however, even thought it is G1 the game is also pretty bad. I was so excited when it was first revealed though, but it was a HUGE disappointment.

Watch the trailer though, it is made of win and awesome.

Up to now the only good TF game I have played was the one by Atari on PS2. Although it was Armada stuff it still was enjoyable. Tataki was just poor but it was much better than the old famicom title... But that's not saying much.

NEVER buy movie games unless you have rented it first. Never.

EDIT: oh by the way... TFQ would be nice with an actual 1P mode.

Everything can work with the right team behind it. Personally I'd like to see a good Transformers beat em up. Since an RPG would probably force me to play as Autobots. >=O

He doesn't transform? But in my PS2 version, the G1 skin had a G1 alt-mode.

:BOT: I'm not even done and I think it's harder than Tatakai... and that's saying a lot!

So far I'm playing through the Deception campaign and there are moments where I think the programmers wanted to torture the players. Like the Blackout chapter in the city mission where he has to fight Ironhide and the barrage of enemies.

And the Megatron levels drive me crazy to no end. His initial mission ends with an indicator around a building. I kept wandering around looking for the next enemy but could not find them, time runs out and ends. I started up again and the same thing happens. I had to go on gamefaqs.com and found out you have to climb the building. I don't think there's any clue given on that. The player has to magically guess that?

And the mission after that is just as inane. The map is scrambled so when Prime runs away you can't find him. I fly around the entire city and cannot find them. Of course, the mission ends because time has run out.

And on a nitpicky side, I really hate the audio. The sound effects are extremely loud. While you can adjust the sound effects, the voice overs are still low.

And as mentioned above, you can't play different characters on different levels.

Screw it, give me Armada and Tatakai anyday. :CON:

I am still pissed that you can't even play as all of the characters I wanted to be Bonechrusher.

I was thinking I would love the game to be more customizable. Having all the models and textures out in the open, in recognizable formats would be superb. Crappy games like this would have a hell of a lot more value if they were more open, allowing people to create their own models and missions, making the replay value limited only by the modding community.

I don't get the hate...I just bought it, reluctantly based on the reviews, but it has been discounted to 30 bucks on PS2 so I figure what the hey? So far am enjoying it. Could it be better? Sure, but I don't think it's nearly as bad as the reviews I've seen. At this point I like it better than the Atari Armada game... The transfor….errrrr, conversions rock, minus not being able to jump and transform. Would be nice if there was more opposition to fight if you just wanted to go around kicking ass, but, nonetheless, I’m still digging it. I was trying to hold off till it went to 20 bucks, but as it is, I would have been satisfied buying it 3 or 4 months ago for full price.

I feel the same way, but then again i got the game for free so...

Anyways i really like it too and dont think it deserves all the negative hype. It isnt the games fault, its peoples fault expecting too much from a rushed movie based game. Morons want the next Halo or MGS from a quick movie cash in, and these people really need a wake up call. For what it is its actually one of the better movie tie-in games, and an all-round decent and fun game period. It has problems of course, what game doesnt? But if you just want to sit down, shift your brain into neutral and enjoy some giant frickin robots beating the crap out of each other then you cant beat it.

And yes i have also had more fun with this game than the armada ps2 game. But that may just be because ive never seen an episode of armada.

I dunno, I think the problem with the Armada game is it's pretty much a straight up "shooter" game, which I'm not the most fond of. The movie game has that element available, but it's not the basis. The funny thing is people complain about the guns not being powerful enough in the movie game, but to me it seems they're just as powerful as in the shooter game...just so happens it's more effective to pound the hell out of the opposition.

I got the game for PSP, and, despite the game being very short (I beat it at about midnight the day I got it), I was pretty impressed.

I wish that you could play as any transformer on the missions.

And that Bonecrusher, Brawl, and Rachet were playable characters.

And that you didn't have to use Bumblebee on every other Autobot mission after you beat them.
