War Within animated episodes: The making?

I've seen a few clips of the War Within animated episodes, and I find that project rather interesting. I'd like to know if there's any place that tells us about how the project was done? I'm trying something similar, as an animation project, and have a few problems on the way, notably animating fluids. When I'm doing it, the final clip is like those 1966 animated episodes of the Marvel Super Heroes, which came straight out of the comics. These new fan-made clips are reasonably better than that, and though I get some idea of how they're done, I'd like to know more. For instance-
  • How do they get such a smooth animation of lip and limb movement?
  • The whole animation uses the panels from the comics, without redrawing anything, and distortion is almost minimal. How do they achieve that? And how do they keep the background intact?
  • Subsequent videos may have better animation of such aspects as fire, clouds and liquids. How will that happen?
  • How do they animate a scene with multiple characters, most of whom won't get more than a panel of appearance?
