My friend said that in the Beast War comic it says what Megatrons name was before he was Megatron. Only thing is he cant remember.Can you guys help?

As far as I know he was always Megatron.

I know in Japan he was called Beast Megatron though

Yeah, near as I can tell he's never been given a real name else it would've been more widely known. Transformers Wikia says nothing on it.

According to Furman's Ultimate Guide, BW Megatron chose to take on the name "Megatron" based on the G1 character as it inspired fear. Which would imply that he had a previous name....

But the Ultimate Guide isnt quite as Ultimate as Furman thinks it is....... :lol:

He did in fact have a name before Megatron, but AFAIK that name has never been revealed.

It would be entertaining to attempt to draw connections between him and minor Decepticon characters, especially Micromasters or Pretenders, but I think the implication is, that whoever he was, he was created as a Predacon. Otherwise I imagine that the dialogue between him and Ravage in the series would have been very different.

Wonder what would have been a good name for him though?

Cunning, brutal, charismatic, independent, ambitious...

I seem to recall following a link from Wiki, or reading on Wiki that Ben Yee said he wanted to include Megs pre BW: Episode 1 history it was tie'd to the BW: Sourcebooks.

Like the mistakes in the books, or Ben's review of the books...but...I CAN'T FIND THE PAGES!

Here's what I was thinking about!

Megatron:
This is truly one of those "Had I known..." profiles that I regret. Back when we were writing these books, we did not know how much room we would have to work with, so we played it safe. If I had known I would have a bit more text room to work with, I would have liked to have included some more background information on Megatron's past, perhaps what he was as "MGT-1" and so on. As it was, I felt it was important to encapsulate what had occurred in the show, fearing any backstory would just get edited out for space. That said, I believe the decision to give an entire page to the T-rex and Croc robot modes was a bit short sighted. With proper arrangement, all his art can appear, albeit in smaller form. I have already made these suggestions to IDw and hope they do it for the trade.

That's what I was thinking...I'm not sure if MGT-1 was Megs name before he took Megatron, but it's as a close as I've ever heard.

I swear, if they change/improve things for the trade, I'm going to stop buying the monthly books and simply wait for the trades. Didn't something like this happen once before? The Animated Movie Adaptation, I believe?
