Like Bravestarr (and Defenders of The Earth, albeit for different reasons) Go-Bots will probably never see the light of day again.

Oh, it has. It got official DVD releases by Warner Archive. Fully remastered, even. I own all three sets.AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Like Bravestarr (and Defenders of The Earth, albeit for different reasons) Go-Bots will probably never see the light of day again.

Only the movie remains to be released since another distribution company currently owns it.
GoBots even got a fiction-only pseudo-revival when Fun Pub produced a spinoff of its Facebook-based Ask Vector Prime feature, called Renegade Rhetoric, and which was hosted by Cy-Kill himself, who even described events of a newly-conceived second season that paid loving and playful tribute to the stock cartoon plots of 1980s children's television.

And we're back to Rights issues again

Why was this all so poorly conceived in the 80's? I mean we've been quite lucky with Transformers, as even the Takara Series got a global release eventually.

Karyuudo Fansubs did a fine release of their own for Zone (and Car Robots, Micron Densetsu, Beast Wars Second, Scramble City, and soon Beast Wars Neo).AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Three out of ten, at least.AllNewSuperRobot wrote:even the Takara Series got a global release eventually.

Zone dude get a release on the UK metrodome takara sets (might have been added as an extra on the collected set of headmasters, masterforce and victory) also we got scramble city as an extra on one of the dvd releases for the animated movie...wasn't a good transfer though which they acknowledged

Yeah, both of those were taken from an old bootleg release (which I also own on DVD).ZeroWolf wrote:Zone dude get a release on the UK metrodome takara sets (might have been added as an extra on the collected set of headmasters, masterforce and victory) also we got scramble city as an extra on one of the dvd releases for the animated movie...wasn't a good transfer though which they acknowledged
I'm grateful for Karyuudo's more up-to-date releases of both (plus all the extra goodies they toss in as bonuses).

The other day I watched Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 again, and it just now hit me: Rocket and Rattrap are very similar in characteristics. I wonder if Rattrap was ripped off Rocket on purpose in any way by the Beast Wars writers...?

I thought rocket was a more modern character than rattrap
Like, 2008 modernish.
....
Just looked it up myself, and wow, I was way off. 1976, I had no idea he was that old! And based off a Beatles song to boot. I don’t know though if he was the basis of rattrap, but it is an interesting thing to ponder.

I don't think Rocket's as racist towards others as Rattrap was towards Predacons.
No, that's not meant to be insulting. Rattrap was unabashedly racist towards Predacons and we loved him for it. His pre-established racism was one of the big reasons people took issue with the Beast Machines episode where he made a deal with former-Predacon Megatron, as people felt Rattrap wouldn't do that since he was racist against Predacons, which he never stopped viewing Megatron as and for good reason since Megs never stopped being evil like a Pred.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't think "racist" is the right word. They may be on opposite sides due to a difference in philosophy, but they're members of the same race: Transformers. Rattrap didn't feel the way he did towards Preds because of what they were, he felt that way because of how they acted and what they believed in. Unless I'm missing something? I think the better word is "prejudiced." But that's just the way I look at it.Sabrblade wrote:I don't think Rocket's as racist towards others as Rattrap was towards Predacons.

Unlikely. Comics Rocket, especially comics Rocket prior to the 2000s, was a very different character to MCU Rocket. Plus, he was such an obscure, little used character before that point.

I was going to say the same. Rocket Raccoon, prior to the MCU and DnA's Cosmic Marvel Run, was an oddity. A joke character that played up to the innate silliness of his origin: A manufactured toy to placate and police Crazy people in space. The shift didn't really come about until his re-introduction around 2007-2008. So Rattrap might have actually been the influence for Rocket's personality change, to be fair.

So let's talk cameos.
Obviously Starscream was the first full cameo. Although he appears earlier in altmode, during Cheetor's dream/hallucination in The Web. Unicron was "technically" second. Next was the Agenda which featured plenty. As for it's relevance here, a few questions:

1)If Megatron were to press 'Eject' on Soundwave, would the Cassettes have woken up?
2)Were Ravage to have entered this chamber and absorbed his G1 Spark, in light of Optimal Optimus and TM2 Megatron, what would he have turned into?
3)With word the Coneheads were considered to guest cameo for the finale of Beast Wars season 3, which relevant living cameo would you have liked to see? Shockwave? The Dinobots etc
Obviously in aligned continuity, the Nemesis was Trypticon. How cool would that cameo have been?

Well, it wasn't really a Unicron cameo. Just a façade.AllNewSuperRobot wrote:So let's talk cameos.

No, they were out just the same as Soundwave. Otherwise that means they were awake inside Soundwave's chest for 4 million years.1)If Megatron were to press 'Eject' on Soundwave, would the Cassettes have woken up?
He would have died most likely. Or maybe reverted back to his G1 body? BW Ravage was G1 Ravage with a new body, that's all. If he took his spark out of his G1 body, it would have had the same result as Megatron assassination attempt of Optimus, but on a smaller scale. That begs another question: how could G1 Ravage and BW Ravage exist in the same point in time if they were the same bot? Or does G1 Ravage being off-line negate this?2)Were Ravage to have entered this chamber and absorbed his G1 Spark, in light of Optimal Optimus and TM2 Megatron, what would he have turned into?
Even though BW has nothing to do with the G1 comics, considering what happened in that continuity, it would have been appropriate for Shockwave and the Dinobots to make an appearance.3)With word the Coneheads were considered to guest cameo for the finale of Beast Wars season 3, which relevant living cameo would you have liked to see? As cool as Omega Supreme having been the Ark.Obviously in aligned continuity, the Nemesis was Trypticon. How cool would that cameo have been?

No, no, not Other Voices. I mean His appearance in the episode Possession. I say "technically", as Starscream's little flashback was completely fake.

That is actually a pretty terrifying idea...

I hadn't actually considered that. As Megs and Primal were not their G1 counterparts. I can only assume Ravage was killed prior to this scene to close this potential plot hole by the writing staff. However, would the G1 spark of Ravage been more powerful than the reformatted Predacon version? ala G1 Megs and Prime or would it be the same spark?

The Dinobots would have fit right in, with Beast Wars. As I'm sure Tarantulas and Shockwave would have gotten on very well

Just think the fight between Optimal Optimus and TM2 Megatron being played out in the shadow of a massive free-for-all between Omega Supreme and Trypticon

Let's see:
1) I concur with Rodimus, with an addendum, even with the cassettes being asleep I don't think pressing eject would have worked with soundwave being out cold. Now if he had ripped into soundwave he could have gotten to the cassettes but they would have still been asleep.
2) yeah I concur with Rodimus here, he would have nullified his own existence as he wouldn't have been able to live long enough to become a predacon to go back in time, to go and absorb his own spark. That is unless they stated that he was able to put his spark back like they did with prime. However I don't think he would have gained anything from the experience.

It's funny that Shockwave and Unicron are brought up, since way back in 1999 when the episode titles of Season 3 were revealed online long before the episodes themselves aired, fans had no idea was the titular "Nemesis" of the two-part finale was gonna be, and many speculated such things as Shockwave and Unicron as possibilities, with the former idea stemming from Shockwave's activity on prehistoric Earth in the Marvel Comics and the latter idea stemming from the fact that, well, there is no greater "nemesis" in Transformers lore (at least, at the time) than Unicron.
Needless to say, no one saw the Decepticon warship of G1 coming (at least, not until a hologram of it was seen on a monitor in Tarantulas's lair in "Other Victories". Then people started guessing that ship).

Yep! Beast Wars was the first to name the Nemesis, while the Revenge got its name even later (as did the Victory) in Transformers: The Complete Ark released in 2009.AllNewSuperRobot wrote:The Nemesis and Revenge were named retroactively, weren't they?
But backing up to the Nemesis, this means that that Artificial Planet Nemesis from Beast Wars Second was officially the first thing ever in the Transformers brand's history to bear the name "Nemesis", since that Nemesis debuted in 1998.

It's funny you mention that because, planet nemesis came up in the search engine before the ship. Having not gotten beyond the pilot with BW II, I did look up the planet and I have to admit That is Awesome!
