What to do when when it's all too much.

Motto: "Freedom is the right to KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!"
I have a huge collection, somewhere in the 700-800 range I think including things like Minicons. Not as big a collection as some but I've had enough. I'm not done with the hobby and certainly not with Transformers or Siebertron.com in general but the whole planning to move thing (which fell through on the realtors end) highlighted that I just have too much. So starting this weekend, I'm selling off most of it. I'm only keeping the lines I still have an active interest in like Classics and Masterpiece and certain key figures but just about everything is on the table. I know I'm not the only one whose ever felt this way or done this before and I want some advice. I was thinking of selling on eBay in some lots but mostly in waves. One week, 6" Titaniums, the next Beast Wars Neo and on like that.

Any advice?

And no, I won't take "don't do it!" or "give them to me" as options. I am selling them. For money.

Selling in lots helps you get rid of the less loved figures. It does help to know what figures are very wanted, you sell those loose. For instance, Dark leobreaker or a SL Galvatron G can get you some nice moneys.

I agree completely. The lots should be groups of lesser demand figures, and the higher demand figures should be individual. Also a trick with desired loose figures, and lots is to not place a reserve on them. Put them up with a starting bid at $1.00, not including shipping costs of course. If they are in demand or even just popular, you will get some good bidding wars going. People tend to bid more when they're not scared off by a $50-$100 reserves.

Keep in mind this is advice based on your desire to reduce your collection, not to make scalper money.

Hope this is helpful. :BOT: :CON:

This guy is 100% right. Good advice.

Only somewhat related, I've noticed that people tend to bid more on figures that are loose versus ones that are sealed. There's probably some good psychological explanation for that behavior. Just something else to think about.

I'm interested in getting G1 Siren and G1 Counterpunch if complete, okay if loose for the right price. Please post me a link to your ebay site.

You're basically doing the same thing I'm doing...however I have an ulterior motive not including 'I have too much.'

I sell whatever I don't like. I usually look for things that are complete in my collection that I no longer desire and sell them (not everything I have is complete. When I began collecting, the weapons were the last thing on my mind).

I add one cent here when I say that selling them in lots will gets those petty little annoying things out of your way. Go for it.

As an eBay buyer, I like when someone sells a set of figures that are related, like a set of 6" Titaniums, or a set of Beast Wars figures, as it allows me to fill in a chunk of my collection with one purchase. One of the best eBay purchases I ever made was a set of all six RiD Autobot Brothers for $60. But be careful that you don't put TOO many figures in each group!

If you DO decide to do this, let us know! I'll check out your stuff for sure! Titaniums and Beast Wars are both areas of my collection I'd like to beef up.
