What Transformers needs

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

What Transformers needs

Postby transgilgal » Fri Apr 24, 2009 4:49 pm

Transformers went through different phases: from cars and planes to mechanical beasts, cities, headmasters, targetmasters...then back to cars and planes.

One thing I would hope for is an expansion of the G1 Transformers. While back in the 80's they didn't have movable arms and legs as compared to toys made today I don't think they needed to completely remake the looks of the old characters.

Grimlock was fine the way he was. Now he looks ruthless with fangs, evil.

Also I would've liked to see:
-more triplechanging characters besides the 6 (3 Autobots and 3 Decepticons);
-more head/target/powermasters;
-more pretenders...

I really liked triplechangers, hopefully they will make more. However, other than Maximus, I didn't care for Headmasters and I absolutely despised Pretender toys. they sucked.

Well, you probably meant they sucked in the sense that they didn't transform well or they were too easy to transform (right?) but now they have better transformable toys like binaltech they can improve them.

I find the cool part of the headmasters was that the head became the driver or pilot. But it still didn't make sense how flesh and bones can be transformable.

In general size is an issue. How can Fort Max the Autobot headmaster city be only twice the size of Kup or Hod Rod in robot mode? And also it would've been nice if the comics and the tv series had shown what felt like to be walking in the autobot/decepticon cities. A video game focusing on that would be nice!

Tf needs a darker series, the 1 episode of the animated war within on youtube is a great example. one done in a gundam 0083 style on cybertron would be awesome. a deep danrk brooding action/drama. it's never been done in that style. might give the franchise the kick in the thusters it needs.

War within on youtube? Can you send me the links?

I find the g1 episodes a lot friendlier. Some of the things were scientifically hard to accept, example how starscream formed his own brigade by putting energon cubes in old vehicles and formed the combaticons. But I liked seeing one autobot helping another when in trouble and decepticons killing each other out of hatred (evil has the seed of its' own destruction!)

The G1 comics' early issues were very exciting. But the art went bad in issues I think #60 and up.

I agree a darker TF series would be pretty cool...And War Within was agreat story...But I wasn't all that impressed with the animated version...Just not crazy about those "moving comicbooks" people do in Flash alot...And the voices aren't great either...

Well that's the cool thing about transformers. They're meant to have a cartoon to show their transformation. But the Artists need to have the toys in front of them to see how they transform. I noticed that often when they would transform they would bump out of the screen and back in in their other form.

They need an episode of 3d version like the clone wars.

Transformers needs another season at least of TF: Animated.

What a perfect place to unexpectadly add in all the other things that Transformers needs more of, as it has been such a wonderful melting pot for things from previous TF series.

Yeah, and TF:A definitely needs more triplechangers, especially Astrotrain.

Back then there were so many new characters that I don't think there was much time to introduce them all in the episodes nor comics. The Jumpstarters weren't mentioned. But I felt real bad when during the time of the Masters and Pretenders the series stopped. When I looked at the commercials I loved their actions as the pretenders popped out of their shells and transformed. The Comics had good continuing stories but Transformers need to be on TV.

Transformers needs uniformity in scale. Personally, I'm disappointed with all the deluxe cars we've been getting in recent years.

Classics Starscream looks ridiculous against Classics Bumblebee. The toys themselves are great but just don't mesh. I like Basic cars like Clocker and Overhaul who look well beside the Diaclones like Prowl and Sideswipe. Tankor and Astrotrain should have been at least Voyagers.

Transformers also needs a good animated series. Animated would have fit the bill but for those childish human villains. Just can't understand how they portray each Transformer so well, apart from the Constructicons, but then give us human villains like Professor Princess and Angry Archer.

We really need another Beats Wars type show but with a G1 size cast.

It was exciting to see the new Powermaster Optimus Prime and the tank Megatron. But they've made so many versions of them since then and not much of a story has happened.

It seems to me that making the cartoon version would mean a lot of work since they have to study how each toy transforms. I've noticed that sometimes they take a character out of the screen and then bring it back in the screen in the other form.
