What was that about wrecks you can walk away from?

Yeah, I was in a wreck today. First one. Rear-ended a lady with an 11-month-old daughter in a Ford F150 with my 91 Tarus. Thankfully nobody was hurt...well, seriously. I jammed my left thumb & had the hide taken off my left arm when the airbag deployed....but my wife & 2 kids were fine. The lady I hit & her daughter were fine, too. It happened so fast....

From what she told us, there was a guy in front of her that just slammed on his brakes for some reason (it was rush hour, it could have been anything), so she did the same, almost slamming into him. I saw her lights & reacted accordingly, but the car wasn't slowing fast enough, & her truck kept getting closer. The front of our car above the front bumper was pushed back behind where the front headlights stop on either side....

her truck only got a couple of dents & some paint rubbed on to her bumper & back fender.

I wasn't going very fast, under the speed limit (35), & had almost come to a complete stop, but not quite soon enough.

Luckily my wife's parents were in town also, not half a mile from where we crashed. They helped us out, & gave us a ride home. Good thing, too, we all live an hour away.

We had the car towed to my parents' house, & my dad, a mechanic, told us the car was totaled. Battery busted, radiator busted, fuel lines busted (good thing they have an automatic shut-off switch, he said it would have set on fire...which is made worse by the fact that we had just got a full tank of gas), block was probably cracked.

So now tomorrow, we're going to find a new car...well, used, probably, but new to us. It kind of concerns me, because our credit isn't so hot right now, & our budget is pretty tight right now for trying to fix said credit problems, so I really don't know if we're going to be able to afford one. It was the only car we had because, well, we only needed one. My wife & I both work at the same place, & we virtually go everywhere together, so this isn't really something we can "make due" with what we have untill we can afford another car...we NEED a car.

*sigh* something to worry about tomorrow. Well, my hand hurts, & I'm still a bit rattled, so I'm going to stop typing now, & I'll be off tomorrow to find a new car, so wish us luck.

Yeesh that sucks, that kinda happened to me once. However me and my mom were the ones that got rear ended.

See we were at a green light with this old lady in front of us. However she wasn't moving at all, so this guy behind us sorta did the same as you and put on his brakes hard but it was to late.

Luckily no one was hurt, just some minor damage.

However, after tlking with the lady up front to meet us at a corner store. She goes off and cuts off two other vehicles and joy rides around for around ten minutes until getting to the store.

Senile old hag. :-x

Ouch. Been a while since my first wreck but I still remember it. I had the yellow light so I decided to keep moving. Unfortunately, the driver in the opposing turn lane thought I was going to stop and went for the turn. I T-boned her at about 40 MPH. I had hit the brakes but there wasn't enough time and I just skidded into her. Her car suffered a broken axle. Mine was a complete total (crunch zones save lives). No airbags for me, just the seatbelt leaving an imprint in my chest.

Luckily, neither me, my three passengers, the other driver, nor her daughter had any real injuries other than shock of the moment.
Next up on Pimp My Jeager.

Holy **** dude....Replace F-150 with Saturn Ion and you have my exact accident. I mean exactly! And I know the feeling of having no clue how you're going to get a new car. Luckily I had my parents to co-sign with me but in yoru case that isn't really a viable solution. I say just buy an old 95-97 Pontiac Sunfire for $600 or less. They're reliable, cheap and get you where you need to go.

Well, we just got back from a dealership, & we got hooked up. 2007 PT Cruiser...not too many extras...it was a used rental. Payments are a bit high, but my wife's parents are going to help us out. We're only going to have problems untill next year's tax refund, & given what we've got on earlier refunds (roughly $5000+), we should get some of our smaller bills paid off so we can pay on this on our own, & maybe then we can also refinance & get the payments lower. & they are even going to give us $2500 trade-in on the car we just wrecked!!
We didn't even pay that much for it to start with!!

So yeah, right now everything's seeming to be working out.....the picture might change in a few months when we start having to make payments...but eh, everybody's safe & we got a new car out of the deal.
