And it would be your 19th birthday. Unless your memory sucks worse than your math, and you actually forgot you were born in 1994.

As for what will happen in 2012? I don't know. The movie hasn't come out yet. Wait until November. But this week? Zombieland!!!

Those Fireballs are the effect of the Yellowstone's super volcano erupting, which will happen at some point in the future not the near future but it is very likely to happen at some point.

You watched the trailer, and then make the assumption that it's "bullshit" based purely on that? A bunch of scenes, most of which are out of context, several of which may not even be in the actual movie?

Absolutely too much.

Quite honestly I'm shocked and concerned by Bishop's response than anything else.

As for 2012 itself, another nail in the coffin for the myth:

Ugh, this 2012 thing is by far the most annoying thing to talk about on the internet.

There is no more reason to believe that a MOVIE about the end of the world has anymore credibility than giant robots coming down from space will f*ck up my toaster.

Most people who spout off about the "calendar" of Doooooooooom, know so very..very very little about it. It's a calendar made by human beings, some very wonderfully flawed human beings.

Let's just lump this in with Y2K, low fat yogurt and Government intelligence. Pure fiction.

Roland Emmerich will send Russell and Spader through the 'Gate to come save our butts.

And then promptly cash in on it, and take the onslaught of negative press.

It'll be a special effects bonanza.

I'm behind Bishop on this one. Without the God stuff though.

Yes, I'm cynical and pessimistic and I'm under the firm belief that humanity is on a swift road to self-annihilation.

However, I hope for a few different outcomes. On the one hand, the utter destruction of the race would be nice. Let's face it, despite all our achievements (that have mostly and selfishly only been for the benefit of our species than any other) we've not done much for this planet and our prospects of contributing anything to the rest of the universe is, currently, minimal. I mean we're not going to do anything unless its for profit, are we? And certainly not if it means a loss.

And currently, that's what I, personally, believe is wrong with our species. We're so wrapped up in money and gain that we'll never achieve anything for fear we'll lose out ourselves trying. So hell, blow us to bits, we weren't going anywhere.

On the other hand, it would be wonderful if 2012 spelled the rise of some new established way of things for our planet. Entirely new, just governments and a new mindset for the people. I'd give anything to see that and I have a lot of hope that this will be the ultimately outcome of 2012. And it's not too distant a dream. I think the world is going very sour and I think it's only a matter of time for some major shift in management.

But that's all my own opinion and gawd I don't want to get into an argument about governments, money, all that nonsense...

Don't get me wrong, I'll be scared witless if fire rains from the sky but, eh.

And for your sake I hope things don't get too dramatic on that date.

But I get my opinions, a lot of the time, from the Internet. You can find videos of people doing the cruellest things to other humans and animals and thoroughly enjoying it. But you can go further if you want to see things less cruel and more sinister altogether.

To my understanding, money is actually the one most restricting factor in our lives than anything, natural or artificial. I think ultimately, the wall people hit when trying to achieve something good is funding.

Feeding starving continents would be moderately simple if we had the money for it.

Research for cures against the greatest killers (cancer, AIDS) might be more fruitful if it weren't for the fact that these ventures didn't require so much money.

And wars would be impossible if it weren't for all that money too, but that's a point I don't want to go into.

The problem comes in that people are just not willing to accept a money-less system, in fact, they're so for it, they'll automatically wave off any alternative. It's just unimaginable, but that's our problem as a species. In fact, to my understanding, there are forces out there that will fight and kill to preserve this system. Despite that it is still the most inhibiting thing our race has ever encountered. Slitting our own throats, effectively.

This factor, along with humanity's innate cruelty, disregard for anything that doesn't conform, unstoppable greed, and so much more, all contribute to my own personal wish for the race to just be wiped clean. Be it through destruction or mass-change, I don't mind.

I just hope it doesn't do too much unnecessary damage to the good people of the world.

Would you take Monopoly money?

Scatter, seriously... wake up!

However, I hope for a few different outcomes. On the one hand, the utter destruction of the race would be nice. I mean we're not going to do anything unless its for profit, are we? And certainly not if it means a loss.

Every species is selfish, in their own way. So don't single out humanity. That's nature. She's cruel and heartless. And yes we've not done much for the planet because our way of thinking was different from what it is today, but we're slowly changing our thinking towards giving back, albeit it's a slow process occuring from generation to generation and the emans graduallty becomming available for widespread use.

And currently, that's what I, personally, believe is wrong with our species. We're so wrapped up in money and gain that we'll never achieve anything for fear we'll lose out ourselves trying. So hell, blow us to bits, we weren't going anywhere.

I challenge you to come up with a better system then. Oherwise you really have no reason to complain about that. It's not perfect but it's the best system we have right now. Trust me, it's better than whatever we had before.

On the other hand, it would be wonderful if 2012 spelled the rise of some new established way of things for our planet. Entirely new, just governments and a new mindset for the people. It would be nice, but such change does not happen overnight and if such change is forced, it would more than likely lead to negative results. humanity cannot be controlled. Humanity is apart of nature. It'll find ways around things, it will resist, break barriers set to block it. I think we will better ourselves overtime, but it will come with time. The civil rights movement is one such example. Even after the laws were passed, granting equality, people resisted. And discriminations till exists, in different forms. People do not change overnight. They change over time and gradually come to accept the status quo. Things will get better, but not before they get worse. We just have to weather it, learn rom it, and adapt. humanity is very resilient as a species. We've faced extinction numerous times, yet somehow we continue to survive.

And yes we've not done much for the planet because our way of thinking was different from what it is today, but we're slowly changing our thinking towards giving back, albeit it's a slow process occuring from generation to generation and the emans graduallty becomming available for widespread use.
Every species is selfish, yes. But we're the only species that can choose not to be.

I challenge you to come up with a better system then. Oherwise you really have no reason to complain about that. It's not perfect but it's the best system we have right now. Trust me, it's better than whatever we had before.
There's something called the Venus Project, which utilises something called a Resource Based Economy. Remember that money is only a means to share out resources - Those with the most money get the most resources. However, in our age, we have technology advanced enough to preserve these materials and use them efficiently enough to both recycle and reproduce them. I wont go into all the details but look into Project, and ignore that Zeitgeist crap that's been holding its hand.

I cannot see one benefit the monetary system has given us that outweighs any of the damage it has done.

Once upon a time, it did work for us, when resources were scarce and needed to be handed out. But with our recycling technology and with careful planning and care, we can make sure such resources never run out and thus the need to share it out fairly or through the use of money is redundant.

It would be nice, but such change does not happen overnight and if such change is forced, it would more than likely lead to negative results. humanity cannot be controlled.
I completely disagree. Humanity can be controlled and has been, for slavery and profit and malice. Humanity is controlled in the most subtle ways nowadays. From advertising to blindly following systems it doesn't understand (I'm talking specifically about things like the monetary system and needlessly complicated bureaucracy).

People do not change overnight. They change over time and gradually come to accept the status quo. Things will get better, but not before they get worse. We just have to weather it, learn rom it, and adapt. humanity is very resilient as a species. We've faced extinction numerous times, yet somehow we continue to survive.

That might be a little over-romanticised. I'm not sure we've faced extinction, bar a few plagues that only affected a percentage of humanity. But I might be forgetting some instances.

This species is not invincible because a few movies made it seem like we are. We are not the most noble race on the planet, nor do we deserve any such right to call ourselves anything because in the end, we are the only race that may do so and it then becomes self indulgent. But we do anyway. We call ourselves a strong species because hey, who's going to argue? The animals? We can get away with that kind of thing.

People don't change overnight, no. But that's not what we're talking about here. I think as a society, we're becoming a little more restless. More discontented with the governments and powers that be. I think in recent years we've seen a lot more movies and movements that are just lashing out against the nonsense around us created by ourselves.

Books on crazy laws. People getting more and more upset with larger corporations. And I understand that quite a lot of Americans are nearing the end of their rope with their government (although this can be said for a lot of governments). To be honest, I personally see, and hope, for a huge change in this government, one that may not last but that will alter the Status Quo significantly. And I don't think it will happen over night - that on the 20th of December we see the beginnings of some great revolution that'll be over by the next day - because, in my eyes, it's beginning already, and has been chugging away for a while getting angrier and angrier.

We're getting pissed off with a lot of things. And I think in two years it might just pique.

I'm no anarchist. If this ever started happening, you can bet I'll still be right here posting crap on forums and playing video games ;;)
