In the Japanese Beast Wars series there is a council of Convoy. These all resemble "G1" Convoy aka Optimus Prime in some way, especially facially. For the Cybertron party of Beast Wars II Lio Convoy (the lion) was given command. For Beast Wars Neo another Convoy was set out to be the hero of the Cybertrons. That was the wolly mammoth Big Convoy. These were totally different characters. Where Lio Convoy was the honorable just leader, Big Convoy basically has a screw lose and would jump into action with blasters fireing. So while they do look somewhat like each other, they are definately not the same person.Novacron wrote:I was looking at the database descriptions of Big Convoy and Lio Convoy and I remain a little confused. Can someone please give me a breakdown of who these two characters are? Are they different versions of the same 'bot? I've tried to do my research into the Japanese Beast Wars series and I remain a little unsure of it all.
Along these lines of discussion, is it supposed to be the standard procedure to name anyone of command level some form of "Prime" or "Convoy" on Cybertron during the Beast Wars era? And, is it also supposed to be standard to give them an "Optimus Prime"-themed head. Is there puspose in any of this?
Thanks in advance for any explanation...

Novacron wrote:Great! All those explanations make sense (especially the "selling Convoy toys" bit). I had heard that the new Beast Wars comic series will have one or more of the Convoys in it and I really wanted to have some kind of grasp on their characters before I read about them there. So, thanks a ton!

While I'm going to enjoy it (let's get that out of the way first so that this doesn't come off as a criticism), the fact that they're going to be inventing new histories for these characters despite the fact that they have history, regardless of how well known it is, makes it seems just as fan fictiony as the G1 MTMTE series did. (It's not exactly helped by the fact that, by including the BW II and Neo characters, you're not only including a bunch of repaints like the Armada MTMTE did, but also throwing a rather large bone to the hardcore fans, who are most likely going to be the only people who know who these guys are.)

If someone wants to give themselves a name, who can stop them. I could legally change my name to Washington. It wouldn't make me a President.

And you didn't buy the election, and you're not an intellectual retard...
