Who thinks the G1 transformation sound should have been left throughout the movie?

Postby primus1 » Sat Jul 07, 2007 4:02 am

If I remember right they had the G1 transformation sound only in the first scene of the movie when Blackout transformed at the desert base. Then I was disapointed when they phased it out of the rest of the movie. Also the seen where the Autobots were hiding from Sam's parents was annoying as hell. What does everyone else think?

Yeah... I noticed that it always wasn't in the movie. I think it's because lots of things were going on during the screen (example: Starscream arriving on Hoover Dam) and it might have been distracting. But I'd geek out.

Also the seen where the Autobots were hiding from Sam's parents was annoying as hell. What does everyone else think?

Maybe, it's me but it's probably one of my favorite scenes in the movie. I thought it was hilarious. :CON:

I think they sould've used it more but alot of the transformations later in the movie where very quick, especially Blackout's. They would've been done by the time of the first "chur" in "chur-chur-chur".... sorry thats my best writen interpertation of the transformer sound, lmao...

Weapon: Switch Blade Tail
Any scene the parents were in, pure gold.

I actually liked the sound of shifting gears, sliding panels and what not.

...I guess I really don't give a damn about the past anymore. O_o

Sure they could of used the transformation sound more, but it was no major concern. I heard it for Megadeath Nokia phone and for Ironhide's transformation for the battle scene in the city.

The scene where they're trying to hide from their parents, ridiculous? YES! Funny? OH YEAH! Come on! A lot things didn't sit well with in the movie, but Bay was trying to be funny. It's a fourth of July release, you know summer time, it's a toy line, it's the first time anyone has seen the TFs come to real life. It was way too tempting not to try something like the hiding scene with Transformers. I love it!

Yeah, I've been critical of the Faux Pee scene and "By the amount of pheremoans I detect in the air..", but I can see the humor in that and how the people who put this movie together would think of something like that and say "Yeah Yeah, let's do it! Heh! Heh!" It's funny, 13 and over funny. Have a good time with it, it's Transformers and it makes it cool. Really I think the hiding scene is a highlight.

Oh, I just remembered the scene where he tells them to hide, so they all Transform and Prime is sitting there this big truck with a few other large cars. LOL! Then Sam is like "No not car mode here!(or whatever)" That was great! Can't wait to go see it again, I'll have more fun this time.

They actually used it twice. Once for Blackout, and once in Sector Seven when they charged up the phone-and it transformed.

I actually liked the part with the parents. Although it was absolutely absurd, you got to see a bit more of the bot's attitudes.

Yes I agree they shouldve used it more than twice. I mena blending the old and new sounds would be great. What does bay have against the old sound? Without the sound they are pretty much go-bots haha.

They actually used a slowed down version of it a few times too, and I thought it sounded better. It's a fun sound, but it really is pretty bizarre if you think about it. I mean, what is it? And how did they make the sound effect in the first place?

Weapon: Gattling Gun
1) IMO, the G1 transforming sound was fake-sounding and out of place. It shouldn't have been used at all.

2) As many people have said, the hiding scene was ridiculous--ridiculously FUNNY! It's one of my favorite parts, and it gives the Autobots personality!

I've thought about it...I can't figure it out. I mean, a lot of the vocal effects are easy to figure out (Junkions spoke through an envelope filter for example), this is one that's stumped me.

I think it was not needed any more.
Besides, who wants to hear some sound from a stupid 80's cartoon that was just one big toy advertisment.

Yah, either have one, or have the other. They shouldn't have turned it on and off... made every transformation after it feel awkward.

I hated most every scene in the movie, but the yard getting trashed was fun.
The whole Mikaela in the bedroom scene did go on too long and was way too jerky in it's flow.
Yet unlike the jerkiness of the final "battle", it was acceptable as it conveyed the confusion and panic of the moment.

Besides, who wants to hear some sound from a stupid 80's cartoon that was just one big toy advertisment.

Made even funnier that the movie's a commercial for toys, soda, cars, phones, eBay, etc etc...

True, but even the cartoon (when they later stopped drawing transformations and just had guys glow a second from one mode to the next)had used a super sped-up version of it.

I think he might be sarcastic, as he's quoting exactly what Michael Bay's said.

And Bay's said alot worse.
