Thanks! As someone who doesn't frequent the other site, I appreciate the sharing.

And I thought the arguments here could get bad!Arctorro wrote:I wouldn't call myself a frequent visitor though, only really looking at the M3 and Prometheus threads with a side trip to Microblaze Creations and iGear Sharkticons. Same! I like the more basic, G1-esque look of the Sharkies over the iGear dudes. Especially in beast mode.MGrotusque wrote:I'm glad i chose UT for my Sharkticons. There's too many things i don't like about Igear's to justify buying them.

megatronus wrote:UT's seem more Classics, while iGear's seem more 'Neo'. Dunno if that's a distinction without a difference, but so be it.

I see what you're saying, but iGear's has better teeth, IMO. UT's just doesn't convey the mouth full of layers of teeth that the movie shows them having.

Definitely post what y'all think about them.

Thanks for this, helped to erase any doubts I had about getting iGear's Sharkticons. Can't wait for them to arrive (gotta wait a while before shipping the current PoL though).Agamemnon wrote:The other thing is that iGear's Sharkticons desperately need silver between the lips and the eyes. There is no clear defining ridge to help with a sharpie. I might have to see if Repro Labels comes up with a set.
I do like the shark mode slightly better on the UT version (because of the aforementioned silver) but only slightly. iGear has surprised me at how good they look. iGear also gets full marks for quality. I am seriously tired of UT's falling apart at a simple touch, and this is after I've been treating some of the parts with superglue to tighten joints. Somewhere in my basement is my missing shoulder pad. I hope my wife has not vacuumed it up.
iGear wins, but I do like how my shelf has 6 sharkticons, 8 if you count the two Beast Wars sharks that I have re-purposed to be sharkticons before getting these guys.

MINDVVIPE wrote:Just ordered these guys on clearance at BBTS. Excited to have em in hand, but given my final thoughts, I might sell 2 of them for shelf space.
Everyone has their own opinions, but I gota say, I find the UT versions ugly as hell. It might have some paint aps in the right places that make it more G1, but so much about it turned me off that I am so glad a better looking Igear one exists.
UTs looks really dumb from the side with an almost flat face, opposed to the more convex shape of igears, and the legs don't have the right bending angle. It doesn't look too bad from the front, and the gold eyes are cool, I'll give you that, but that flat face just ruins it for me. The G1 toon Sharkies did have a rounder maw like UTs, but in my collection, having maws that looked closer to real piranhas (narrower) definitely works for me coz they look even more terrifying.
As for bot mode, igear wins hands down for me, as the proportions of the UTs are ridiculous. It looks like a little kids toy with such a huge and young looking head/face, and the tiny legs at the bottom of such a wide body. The igear version actually looks like an adult, or even old-timer robot with a gruff, brawler face. Everything else about it is also awesome in comparison with UTs, and I actually enjoy the teeth lining the neck area, just makes him look even more protected and less friendly.
I think I might paint the spikes on the tail silver for added metal badassery.
Tsutsukakushi wrote:Think $80 for Three 3rd party Igear Sharkticons is a great price. It equates to $26.33 for each toy.
What size are these Igear Sharkticons? Basic, Deluxe or Voyager scale?
The 1986 Sharkticons rank low on my updates list. I'll be more than satisfied with the $8 HasTak 30th Legends scale Sharkticon toy.
