Welcome to the General Discussion area where just about anything goes! This area is designed to discuss all matters and does not necessarily have to be Transformers related. Please keep topics relevant.

O God, who hast established the earth upon firm foundations, graciously receive the prayers of Thy people: and, having utterly removed the dangers of the shaken earth, turn the terrors of Thy divine wrath into the means of the salvation of mankind; that they who are of the earth, and unto earth shall return, may rejoice to find themselves citizens of heaven by means of a holy life. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord,

Through the mercy of God
Rest in peace.

Our Father Who art in heaven hallowed by thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven, and give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Dear Lord, please help those who have been struck by the disaster in Japan and bring my sorrowful condolences to those who have been affected by the disaster.

I just read that the Tsunami hit such places as Russia, Indonesia, Philippines and Hawaii. But it didn't do that much destruction outside of Japan.

I know that it's been said here already

I was lucky that my office is designed to cope with earthquakes and was evacuated really quickly.
It was crazy in there; computers falling off desks, chairs being over turned, files and folders flying all over the place, plaster and dust falling from the roof, and all whist you're trying to run out of there and get down the stairs as fast as you can.

The tsunami and earthquake hit Miyagi prefecture the worst - that's the place being decimated by the huge waves in the news footage washing away the farms, fields, cars and people. the eye of the storm was right there. I just hope to God that the death toll isn't too high.

On a personal note I was knocked off my feet due to one of the dozens of after shocks we've had and hit my head on the concrete in the station and was out cold for a short time before the station staff and other people trying to get home helped me up and took me to the station office. I got home at 6.30am after 2 trains which took me halfway home (almost all the trains had stopped of course) and a taxi which took 3 hours to do a 30 minute journey due to the worst traffic jams I've ever encountered - it's 7am now and the main roads and highways are still totally jammed.

But at the end of the day i've had a seriously scary experience and got a bad headache which is nothing compared to what so many less fortunate people have suffered since the earthquake and tsunami hit.

Thanks for posting this story on Seibertron. It's nice to know, from all the comments and prayers we have so many members who really are good people.

Jeez the world is terrible right now... Makes me feel like such a slimeball, being as well off as I am. :-(

Glad to hear you are okay, mate. A little bump on the head is not too bad...it certainly could have been worse!

On topic again, apparently there may be a nuclear leak over there now...

My prayers have been, and continue to be, with those effected by this disaster. May God protect you. I hope you take some comfort knowing that the world is keeping vigil with you. While most of us have not experienced such a horror, we still empathize with your pain, fear and loss and lift you up in prayer at a time when you may be too unsettled to pray for yourself and your families.

I was up all night, actually. Just as I was heading to bed, I went to check the weather and "BREAKING NEWS" came across the screen and they went directly to the footage of the tsunami with the fiery debris and my jaw dropped.

Then I saw the footage of the bridge with all the cars and boats washing away and my heart sunk.

It was a horrible thing to end up falling asleep to, I tried to stay awake, but I couldn't.

I woke up to hearing that Hawaii got hit pretty hard (still haven't confirmed), and that 5 people were swept out to sea on our West Coast and that four of them have been recovered safely, but a photographer in California has not been recovered.

Just an odd, horrible day. Around midnight last night it started snowing like crazy here, and we're just covered in it. People are digging out as we speak, and we have closed roads due to floods, and then I hear about this, and it's just a sensory overload.

(NOTE: I am not comparing our snowstorm and flooding to the direness of what's happened around the world. I'm merely saying that all of it is too much to take in one day, in one dose. Ya know?)

Earthquakes, floods, fires, snowstorms, tornadoes, it just seems relentless lately. My goodness, when is the population gonna catch a break? Is that too much to ask?

Where the tsunami hit in Japan, it was clearly farmland, and it looked to be a very important part of their infrastructure. I hope it's not ruined and I hope that they can rebuild. I just cannot imagine what the clean up of that area will be like. I mean, it's literally an entire community brought inland with a wave of water. How on Earth do you even recover from that? Where would you even begin?

My deepest sympathies and condolences to those who've been hurt and/or lost loved ones.

I pray that God will protect the survivors and keep them safe, and I hope that the people of Japan will one day be able to rebuild and live with some sense of normalcy again. Please God help them, please hear this prayer. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

I was glad this ran on the front page this morning b/c I don't know when I would have found out about it otherwise.

I think it would be nice if the news-staff maybe kept the story updated with information about useful things people could do.

I'm seeing lots of people here throwing down 'wishes' and 'prayers', or getting upset about insensitive comments, but I have a feeling that when the time comes to pony up money or man hours to actually help, few if any of us will actually do anything.

As the man said - "If wishes was horses, we'd all be eating steak."

For lack of anything better to actually be "doing", I've donated to the Red Cross. I'm sure, as time goes by, there will be other opportunities but that's a start. I figure if I'm willing to lay down so many dollars a month for toys, I can shell out much more for disaster relief efforts. As was noted above, this type of disaster leaves us all wondering "where do you start"?

Thanks for sharing your experience. How horrific it must be for you right now! I hope you are able to reach your family and friends, who are probably thinking of you. I used to live in Japan so I can understand how scary and confusing it might be when the infrastructure shuts down. Such jaw dropping destruction. Where are located?

I'm a realist, and the fact is, most people will throw out lots of lip service in never do anything.

If that offends you, if that pisses you off...

GOOD.

Prove me wrong.

It sounds flippant but it isn't intended to be; a lot of fans here have been indirectly helping by buying Takara and helping Japan's economy. It's a bit of a stretch, I admit, but it's true.

I am sure that before too long we will be presented with a lot of opportunities to financially contribute, just like with Katrina.

FYI - If you do something real to help, post it - anonymous donations are very noble, but social influence accomplishes more.

Yeah, I as getting ready for school this morning and as I was getting dressed, I was watching the news. When I saw it, I was like "Oh my God...". As chaplain of the Hoggard High Wilmington NC NJROTC unit (whew, lotta words...), my unit and I are keeping the citizens of Japan in our prayers and thoughts. ;)

Quick fact; Did you know that only 1% of the Japanese population is Christian? :-(
