Oh Geez no. Transporter with a transforming car? Are they going to come up with an Audi A8 transformer for him? Geez. It's TRANSFORMER not TRANSPORTER. LOL!!!

I'm not so sure it'd work.

Jason Statham is all about machismo and 80's style action movies. TF is all about the robots and CGI. He'd be vying with TF's for the role of the hero.

Shia worked as a protagonist in Bay's TF movies because he's the hapless kid. The role of the hero and warriors are left to the Autobots. Sure, Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson were supposed to be the macho hero types, but they didn't steal the limelight from the Autobots.

To my mind at least, the biggest technical problem with a live action TF movie is the need of a human protagonist, without said protagonist being given too much importance or more emphasis than the Transformers. IMO, Statham is too much a a screen presence to fit into a TF movie without clashing with the TF's in terms of importance.

This is true. I can imagine Statham complaining about being second fiddle to a "Bunch of Robots". The only way it might work is if he plays the role that Duhammel played in the three movies and they found some new "hapless kid" to be the main human character. Wasn't that how it was in the G1 cartoon series (Hapless kid as main character)? I doubt this rumor is true. DOTM only came out last week end. Give it a few years of peace and quiet before the Decepticons and their new "human allies" start working on some plan to bring Megatron back or whatever it may be.

As for Statham, while he has been in some terrible movies, I like him. He'd certainly be a massive change from Shia. I could definitely see the franchise taking a much darker turn with him in the lead role. And if anything, the movies would become even more testosterone-heavy and action-crammed.

The only role that makes sense for Statham to play is as the Military guy (Duhammel's character or something similar). Statham isn't a "hapless kid". They could eliminate the "hapless kid" character, but Statham easily fills a military guy role. What would make the whole thing screwy and make almost everyone cringe is if they make his "Car/transformer" an Audi A8 or BMW 7 series. EVERYONE would be howling "OH NO" at that.

I could almost see the new director having fun with a Transporter homage/parody by pairing him with an Audi or BMW in a scene, with him in a black suit and leather driving gloves.

Sorry Statham fans, but it sounds like any hope you may have placed in the "Jason Statham in TF4" rumor has been lost. Director Michael Bay caught wind of the rumor, and has promptly put it to rest. He posted the following in his Shoot for the Edit forum:

I have to agree as well, although I still want this storyline to continue, it is too early to confirm a new film. But we all know micheal bay isn't the most trustworthy person...

I personally never put any hope in this rumor anyways. I'm w/ Michael on this one: enjoy the new one we got for a while. We can't be that anxious for the next movie that the hype on the 3rd one hasn't died down yet before rumors of the 4th. I think Jason's name came up only because of his relationship w/ Rosie anyways. To be honest, I can't see him doing the movie.

I can see a 4th coming because of the way it ended. The never showed Dempsey's character after he was shocked and you know they always show the bad guy dead.

Also you still have Deceptagons around the world, the ones that were staging the piliers.

There are also other Decepticon leaders besides Megatron and Shockwave around too. Plenty of story left to tell. But I still don't see Jason Statham being in any of them.

Because he isn't done yet. He's still doing the press stuff and hasn't been replaced yet.Just because he's not filming doesn't mean he's out. Plus, do you think everybody stops talking to each other afterwards? He's probably still talking to Don Murphy and Spielberg about DOTM. And whoever does get picked to replace him with probably talk to him about unused ideas from the first three. It's not like Terminator or Alien were every new director can reset the franchise when then hop on for their installment. Bay is stuck with this to a small degree until the end of this version of the franchise. Hell, for most Smallville and Superman Returns, Richard Donner was never left alone!
