Sorry, but I don't see anything there that suggests the hand retracted at all. In fact, I can't see anything of any real detail period. the quality isn't good enough. When I watched the movie, twice. All it loed to me like is the blade flipped out from his wrist. It didn't replace his hand.Samsonator wrote:untrue, when he retracts it you clearly see the blade slide in and the hand slide back out.Tramp wrote:Prime's hand doesn't get replaced by the sword, the sword simply extends out from the wrist along the back of his hand.
Edit: Here's a couple of screenshots illustrating my point (not the greatest quality, but I use what I have to work with):

Maybe it passes by too fast but there are grates there, look here: http://www.tfans.com/talk/index.php?s=& ... &p=1186150
And I keep seeing someone's signature that has a clip of Prime whipping out with his sword over and over again. It definatly looks like his hand backs into his cuff and disappears completly before the sword pops out. Can't find the sig image now, probabaly on another forums.

Watch the scene where Bumblebee lifts up the one side of his baattlemask. his optics are unobstructed. What you thoght was a grate was actually just the swift movement blurring the optics.
And, as for Prime, every time I watched that clip, and in the mvoe itself, it just looked to me as if the blade just flipped out lond the back of his hand. That would make more sense to do too, and there is plenty of room for the blade to fit without retracting the hand. Having the hand retract would be not only unnecessary, but also limiting.

But it would be G1 accurate. His hand retracts back into his arm, ive seen it happen this way too. His hand goes back, and out comes the energon axe, G1 STYLE BABY!

I dunno, you don't get any more eye-grating-mask-look than this.

Unless they removed this clip from the movie and was only used for the promo trailers?
And nope, I didn't repaint any of Bee's car body, just inside.

Sorry duder, but Jin's right. I've got a [really good] bootleg of the movie and I just watched both scenes with the battle mask about 10 times each. The "grating" is more like 3 or 4 bars that come across his optics. In the scene after he topples Brawl, the bars are seen retracting quickly as BB is lifting up his mask. Maybe it is you who should go back and look again? heh
Way to introduce myself to the forums right?

I've got a question for Jin, what do you use to cut large pieces of plastic? I also want to know what you use to make precise slices on smaller parts. The exacto-knife and hacksaw methods aren't really working for a project I'm working on.

He's actually a sort of day glow green, that actually looks like yellow in certain light conditions. However in reality he is a day glow green, so the toy is accurate. I thought he was yellow at first as well, then i did some research and studied stills from the movie and he is indeed this greeny color.

I think its funny how so many people complain about this version of ratchet (both the toy and the movie render) as being unrealistic or not ambulance-y enough because of its color, yet EVERY ambulance i see is colored this way.
Where do these people live?? lol

Welcome Mr New Uzer, heheh!
Cutting plastic sucks, large pieces anyway. I use a jewelers hacksaw, the micro-fine teeth ones. That's for thick stuff like cutting arms in half and for hard plastic. For thin plastic like styrene or CD case material (which I made prime's clear orange part of the sword from) I just score it over and over again with an X-acto knife. You can also cut plastic with a drillbit in your Dremel set on high. Just don't apply too much pressure because it can snap, as you'll be using it to cut sideways and not straight up-n-down like it's suppose to be used. That's what I use for 90% of my cutting jobs.

Thank primus we dont all live in america. Jeez that would be over populated wouldnt it. Im actually talking about UK ambulances though, cos thats where i live (says so under my user name
The "yellow" you are referring to is caused by the lighting anf the type of paint that the real ratchet hummer and the cgi render uses. They use a type of paint that changes color based on the lighting. Its intended to look bright no matter how dull it is lit as its meant to be high visability.
Hence why it may APPEAR to be yellow at times, but obviously they arent going to use that type of expensive paint on a toy so they go with the color that the movie render and movie alt mode are most commonly seen in. Green.
