Fact 4 came from wiki, but all the others are from the extra features and the audio commentaries (by Larson and Hasselhoff so I would say they were pretty reliable) for the pilot ep and the KR2000 movie on the series 1 boxset.

Useless Trivia 9: Because of this thread, I watched the commentary on the pilot ep yesterday so I have a few more things to add. I also watched KARR's first ep.

Useless Trivia 10: Super Pursuiit Mode was added as a gimmick to boost flagging interest in the series from the fans. Despite this addition for series 4, it was cancelled after that series. I also have no memory of SPM. Guess I don't remember any series 4 eps.

Useless Trivia 11: There were four series of Knight Rider and KITT's body was heavily damaged and rebuilt four times. Contrary to popular belief, KITT is not the car. KITT is the CPU that was inserted into the car.

Useless Trivia 12: Bill Daniels voiced KITT, though he was never credited on screen once.

Useless Triva 13: There was a train carrying 22 Pontiacs when it was involved in an accident. There was no damage to the cars, but due to laws, they were unable to be sold at dealerships so they went to the scrap yard. The guys there donated 11 to the show The Fall Guy and 11 to Knight Rider. The production crew took one out early morning on a joy ride and wrecked it.


Useless Triva 14: Hasselhoff did his own stunt driving when all four wheels were on the ground ie Power slides, doughnuts, handbrake turns etc.


Useless Triva 15: The Turbo Boost jumps compressed the spines of stunt drivers when they landed. This made for very grumpy stuntmen when it came to these stunts. Hasselhoff once sneaked in a jump of his own during filming, but decided the pain of the landing was too harsh and he didn't do any more jumps.


Useless Triva 16: The Turbo Boost usually makes KITT jump, but on occasion it has simply given him a rapid burst of speed along the ground.


Useless Triva 17: There was only one guy in the world that could drive a car on two wheels for the length of time was needed for Ski Mode. This guy did it by holding onto a lever in the centre of the car and using it to shift his weight to manually balance the car as he drove it.


Useless Triva 18: When Knight used the ejector seat to jump onto roofs, it was actually a stuntman that jumped off the roof backwards. The film was then played in reverse. Fortunatly, there were no aircraft in frame when they filmed those scenes.


Useless Triva 19: They only had a very short time to film the pilot so Larson called in every favour he could. This resulted in a number of recognisable faces from other shows featuring in the pilot, including Lance LeGault, a guy from The Six Million Doolar Man and the guy who played Boomer in Battlestar Galactica.


Useless Triva 20: When filming of the pilot finished, and after they had shown it to the studio and got the go ahead for the series to be put into production, they realised the episode was 7 minutes short. Larson decided to put in the running gag of the two thieves (played by famous comedians) to try and steal KITT. This is why the scenes features no other cast members (except for one scene involving Hasselhoff) and basically was to showcase KITT. This resulted in a running gag in the following episodes. The studio never saw these scenes until the pilot was aired.

OK. All this trivia and KITT mania makes me want to go buy the DVDs. I also don't really remember the Super Pursuit mode much, but the Turbo Boost I do remember (hence the jetpack in the illustration).

One final question—can you tell if it is definately Peter Cullen's voice in the first ep with KARR?

He doesn't sound like Prime or Eeyore if that's what you mean, but if you have heard him with his normal voice, then yeah, you can tell it's him. It's a little raspier than his normal voice, but you can tell it's him.

So Prime's previous life was KARR. Both are talking vehicles!

I've learned more here than an acyual website. By the way...I attempted drawing K.A.R.R. Anyone up to see it?

Alright. You'll see K.A.R.R soon, but not yet. First of all, there's no autobot symbol. He's a con. I even have a Tie-in bio written. But, I need to draw the alt. mode, because I lack ability of it, so I may superimpose a pic of it. Hope you'll like it when it comes.

I remember it, but none of the episodes' plots where it was used in... But, I do think that the "Super Pursuit Mode" bits would compliment a robot-mode of a Transformer well... the back end is bulkier (lending itself to feet), the front 'bumper' would make a nice waist, and the little 'wings' that pop out would look nice (?) on the outside of his legs... But I'd think that K.I.T.T.'s robot-mode's mouth should be the flashing voicebox as in the interior of the car!!!

SPM. Such an ugly design. Ruins the car completely. Although it does look like he's starting to transform to robot mode.

We have KITT an Autobot, KARR a Decepticon, how about Goliath as an agent of Unicron? Although I'm thinking that would look alot like Motormaster.
