Hehe, you guys are totally losing me with the references, but is it safe to assume that you're talking about Babylon 5? I haven't seen that show (though I hear it's awesome).

Anyway, on topic, does anyone have one of these KO sets yet? If so, do they know if the KO version of Buzzsaw suffers from the same problems the legit version has where the tailfin/gun bits on the back tend to be fragile? I'm curious because I could see some good coming out of all this KO business if they can be acquired cheaply and used either as replacements on a person's shelf or simply as donors for more sturdy/unbroken parts when needed.

Mine haven't broken thankfully, but I suspect only because I read on this very forum about the issues with Laserbeak so I was extra careful when transforming him and Buzzsaw and haven't converted them back into cassettes since their first transformation into bird modes and I'm wary to mess with them at all knowing that this flaw exists.

If you disagree with X, I fail to see the issue. We're all just very passionate about X understanding that his original pro-creator stance didn't make much sense in light of his buying practices. It seems his last few posts have transitioned to other topics, which I take as a tacit acknowledgement of his inconsistencies. Or not. Whatever.

The conversation has turned very meta, but that's OK. Not every thread has to stay on topic, especially if the thread is a few days old.

It's not like it became uncivil. Just heated... I don't think any lines were crossed.

It's not a matter of whether or not I agree with him, I just recall (from when I was warned about this very type of "heated discussion" when it was just myself and one other person on a thread attempting to "correct" another) that it was a type of behavior which was discouraged on this forum because of how it might look to outsiders visiting this site, especially since it's a site about Transformers, meaning children and families might be prone to showing up here etc.

I think (though I cannot speak for the mod who warned me) that the primary reason for wanting to discourage such behavior was simply that it seemed like a sort of mob mentality that was less than welcoming to newcomers lest they incur the wrath of us "know-it-alls" (and yes, I am totally including myself in that statement because I'm every bit as guilty of exhibiting this very behavior as anyone, just ask Saberblade or Rated X :P).

I think you've all explained your points quite eloquently and that if X doesn't understand them by now, then he never will. In truth, although I of course cannot speak for him or anyone else in this thread, it's probably more likely that he does understand and simply disagrees. We all have our diverse viewpoints on things and our own rationale and logic behind why we collect, what we collect and how we collect.

I don't like the insinuations in some of his (or others') statements/arguments either (being called a "corporate suck-up" really isn't my preference, but if the shoe fits, then I guess that's what I am :P), but it doesn't mean that we have to continue to argue our points with him all day either when he has clearly made up his mind on how things work and what he should do with his own money.

X is a very passionate person and speaks his mind in quite an abrasive way sometimes which has a tendency of setting some (like me :P) off at times, but I guess I've sort of gotten used to him and so I usually just sidestep the harsher aspects of what he says and instead focus on the points he's trying to make. He may be right, he may be wrong, but what he thinks is what he thinks, and if he hasn't been convinced by all of the arguments that have been presented to him by now, I don't think he's ever going to be.

I think X has made one very good point in this very protracted argument and that is that however you collect then it should be because its fun, wether your anti or pro KO is kind of irrellivent, KO's are there wether you like it or not and are part of Transformer collecting wether you embrace or avoid it. I personally have only one KO and that is the device label Ravage simply because I begruge paying £50 for a 2GB datastick. 3rd party is a slightly different argument in my eyes, and reserve 3rd party for toys that are either not made by HasTak (Perfect Effect Reflector) or that have not been well represented by HasTak (iGears Cosmos, although some might argue that one), in short buy what you want, have fun and chill out!

I would argue Cosmos, although I understand the sentiment because I'd say the same regarding Devastator and Hasbro's alleged "Classics" version. (A five member team may work as a homage to G1 Devastator in another continuity, but does not then work as updated versions of the G1 six member team when you repaint them and slap the "Classics" label on them.)

On the bright side, soon enough there will be a better Hasbro Cosmos. Let me ask you this, LL. (May I call you LL?) If you have a character represented by a third party toy, and then a decent enough Hasbro version comes out, do you at least consider getting it? I know I don't regret getting the "Thrilling 30" Springer, even though I already had Warbot Defender. Doesn't mean I did't love Defender. And even if he got shunted off of my "post-movie Autobots" shelf in favor of his official representation, I still have him on display by his lonesome.

njb902 wrote:My wife wants to know if she can be knives and I want to be young neil.

Yes. Yes, you can. (Although won't it bother you if your wife is only dating you because she got dumped by Rated X and she's trying to make him jealous? )

If I could be anyone in that film, I think it would be Wallace. Except I like the opposite gender too much... And also, in this scenario, even if it is only platonically I wouldn't want to sleep with Rated X. But he is one of the two most awesome characters, the other being Kim.

I guess I'll be Gideon. He has some major flaws, but at least he has some style about it. And comes damn close to winning against an opponent who just stubbornly won't go away. (Hopefully, the fact that in this scenario I'm not actually evil will give me an edge Gideon didn't have...)

It was never actually about buying KOs. This was all about being inconsistent and somewhat dishonest about being creator-friendly. Anyway, it has seem to have run it's course.

I'm also surprised the thread wasn't closed by now.

Of course, its all about what I feel works with my collection.

I assume your refering to the new Cosmos that is being released? Which I dont feel is superior to the iGear version so I'll be sticking with UFO.

Dude, if you can find a legit (non-KO) device label Ravage for only $50, PLEASE tell me where! I've been seeking one for ages (never bought the KO version because all the KOs appear to be completely different molds from the original). The only one I've found is going for $200 which is way more than I'm willing to pay for that thing, awesome as it may be.

I think you misread him. He's talking about pounds, not dollars.

Although it still might be worth it to you, I don't know the exchange rate offhand.

He said pounds, not dollars, which at the current exchange rate would be about $80.00. Still a heck of a lot less then the $200.00 you've said you didn't want to pay, mind you... But even the $50.00 you mentioned hoping for is more then I'd pay for Device Label Ravage. I'm more then happy with the Ravage that came with Hound for my Classics collection, and more then happy to have USB sticks that are a heck of a lot less expensive with a heck of a lot more memory.

Device Label Ravage was a cute idea, but always overpriced for what he was.

I would like to get the Rumble(blue) figure. On the whole KO vs. anti-KO thing, I don't really like KO's or own any but I am quite poor and can't afford masterpiece figures, but I would really like a masterpiece Rumble(blue). Hasbro would never get my money for one since they cost too much, so in this rare case I would buy a KO. Although I will say that KO's should always be labeled KO's.

Wow Im flattered, I should just have my own thread lol

I do work so I cant be on here all the time. To those who supported me or at least kept their cool on this thread, Thank you. :D

To those who really hate me and the fact that I share your favorite hobby, I love you guys! :x

6 months ago, this thread would have been locked and everyone would have been issued warnings for questionable statements. But ive noticed mods and news crew members resigning back to back on this site. As I stated before, its none of my business why they resigned. But I know if I had to deal with a bunch of people like myself butting heads all day, I wouldnt do it for free. Just my opinion, Im not knocking anyone who does. Outside of the anti KO stance, this site is so much better than TFW2005. :D

Can't comment on the site mods, but at least on this particular thread, there was never an anti-KO stance, just a: make sense, darn it! stance.

Okay, I'd mostly tried to back off from this thread... But I have to complain about this. It is said that the legitimate reason for this thread's existence (and the posting of it as a news story on the front page when it was new) was to act as an informative device for people looking to avoid buying knock-offs.

I may not have liked it... but I can understand your saying that you once posted a link to a store where this knock-off could be purchased purely as proof that this knock-off exits, and you were not making it up. (I think most of us would have been willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, but if you want accountability for your reporting, then sure. I can understand that.)

That having been done, what possible legitimate justification can there be for posting a link to a half a dozen eBay auctions? That far goes beyond, "You need to see this for proof," and just screams, "Hey, look kids! Here's where you can buy these bootlegs cheaply!"

The thread was to warn people of the existence, it doesn't mean links can't be posted. People have after all, been warned.

btw ... nice signature, shame it's two pictures over the limit.

I know why it exists! And I am obviously not in a position to cry down from the heavens and decree, "Thou Shalt Not Post Links!" I was just questioning, as a concerned member of the forums, the purpose of the links... I think by now we've all been warned and believe they exist. That latest link to eBay seems to add little to the matter beyond pointing people who do want to buy the knock-off in the right direction to do so.

And on a more personal matter... Thanks for pointing that out re: signature image limits, even if it was in slightly cheeky manor. I'd honestly been unaware of the restriction, and have take steps to bring my signature in line. (It now only has the one image file, even if that image is split into thirds with each third promoting a different one of my own websites I am hoping to promote.)

Could be helpful for others if perhaps it was mentioned right on the page where one edits one's signature, where presently the only restriction mentioned is the 500 character limit. While I didn't disbelieve you, I was curious to see where this was publically stated, and it took a little bit of searching. So it'd be quite easy to miss if you weren't specifically looking.
