It's been a while since I posted anything new here on the forums but I've been slowly but surely working on my Kreons. It's gotten kinda hard now that they're all but discontinued but I'm a completist and there was a few more to do. Two months out of work due to back surgery has finally freed up the time to post them. Finishing up my Movie cast was paramount so I'll start there.
BAM! Rodimus got his Matrix, Wheelie is the right height and has his slingshot, Arcee has her back pieces, Blurr exists! Plus, they all have a nice group display stand. On to specifics:
I'll start with the Matrix itself. The Holy McGuffin of Primus was surprisingly easy though I did have to use one Lego piece for the crystal. The real trick was the gold casing piece. It's Grimlock's crown from the Grimlock Unleashed AoE set! You know, the one that let you build G1 Grimlock! That was an
awesome set.
Arise Rodimus Prime.
HIM?!?! That's it, I QUIT!!!
Wheelie say find friends today!
Me Grimock say we on our way!
Seriously, that was the only reason I picked up a Battlechanger Grimlock. Here's Wheelie and my regular Grimlock:
Next I'll do Blurr. He made me break one of my rules and alter pieces. One hole in a helmet and a shortened pistol handle later and it was totally worth it!
That torso piece should look familiar. It's Kup's! Seriously, I have the two of them next to each other and it's still hard to tell. The blue limbs shade the whole thing. It works even better in person:
Switching gears, I remade my Laserbeak. I got the Ratchet V Soundwave Battlechangers set and well, Hasbro's attempt doesn't really count as an attempt because they clearly didn't try. Like, at all. My old one next to my new one:
Their Ravage on the other hand looked familiar. Mine is on the left, Hasbro the right. I first posted my Ravage in October 2014. Yeah. Let's just say that if that TF design position is for a new Kre-O lead, I expect an email. Plus, theirs is sloppy.
On to the next. After a few months of not even thinking of Kreons I had a random idea one night. I though of a way to do Optimus Primal, or more accurately a gorilla. A couple Cityville legs and a Lego gorilla suit guy later and well, you be the judge:
From Primal the Prime, Optimus got an upgrade finally! Backburnered behind Rodimus, Magnus, Nemesis, Megatron, and Galvatron, he's finally done! Blue pieces suck, that's all I'm saying.
Sworn Enemies:
Brothers:
And rounding out the end here's Wreck-Gar and Wheelie:
And Arcee and Springer:
And that's it. I'm kinda out of ideas. I started a couple of upgraded Dinobots from the SDCC Class of '85 set but I liked my dino ones more so I haven't finished them. I'm hoping that for SDCC this year they do a Class of 1986/2005 boxset but I'm happy with what I made. Mostly
