As I was watching Dark of the Moon again, I though about what Laserbeak said during the camp scene in Africa. He said that "The Autobots have taken the bait. They've discovered the Ark, and returned with it's cargo." Wondering how he knew this, I did some digging and found something I found rather interesting: that lunar rover that accompanied Optimus and Ratchet there? That was actually him.

I mean seriously, how were we supposed to know that? Any thoughts?

Does any official release that has to do with DotM state that the rover is Laserbeak? or is this just something someone decided and everyone agrees because it's plausible?

Wasn't all the Decepticons on the moon too? And popped up from hiding when the space bridge was activated?
They could have heard Prime and Ratchet up there too..... 2 big azz robots running on the moon.....I'm sure they heard the foot steps.

The book didn't say anything about Laserbeak being on the moon when Optimus and Ratchet were up there, in fact it didn't mention anything about any rovers with them at all.
I don't even see why they were added to begin with because they didn't add anything to the scene in my opinion.

Laserbeak was at the Chernobyl, remember? So I'm going with TulioDude, that Beak spied them at the Chernobyl, taking the Fuel cell and recognizing it. From there it was logical conclusion that the Autobots would go to the Moon in search of The Ark.

i'm thinking that it pushes him a little more in the direction of animal or pet than the other autobots. this is reflected in some of the ways that sam speaks to him, as well as in his protective behaviour, and occasional clumsiness and goofy behaviour beckoning for attention. this makes him easier to establish a rapport with than the other autobots, who stand off a little further as great big foreign heroes -- they are rather untouchable. bee has to be sam's/our best friend, it's through bee that we form a relationship with the autobots

The book also said that the Dreads attached themselves to the Xanthium for it's return trip to home. It would've explained how they got here...
And the only reason the rovers were added in that scene? Advertising. The company logos are plastered on their sides. It could be explained that NASA sent them along for intel, but they really didn't need to considering it was thoroughly inspected (minus the crash vault) long beforehand. They were merely there as a sales pitch.
I mean, why else would they zoom in on them long enough so you could see the name on 'em?
