That's because it is on his hip, or at last to one side of it. It seems the leader class Brawl has a slightly different transformation. And the main gun turret ends up on his back, with the cannon to one side ala Armada Megs.

I wish there was a leader Blackout too. I'm reluctant to buy the voyager one due to the bad bendable tabs ,and it's small size. Will there be any other leader version figures besides Optimus, Megatron ,and Brawl?

It probably isnt a prototype; those clear parts would be for the light-up parts that are coming with Leader class figures.

I think if we'd never seen the deluxe version we'd all be much more excited about this. Megatron is rubbish so leader brawl is a good replacement to take on prime. Hell, if he had a bucket head he'd make an excellent update to G2 Megatron.

Quick question: why Brawl? As far as I can tell (having not read any spoilers or anything), he probably makes about a 5 minute appearance before getting scrapped. He's not even in the trailers!
The only explanation I can think up of is that he plays some larger role than they're letting on, and keeping one big secret for the end. Other than that, there are far more worthy characters who would probably sell better as a leader.
