Longarm

Postby GigantoR » Fri Aug 17, 2007 2:51 pm

I saw the new Longarm figure that will be coming out soon and I really liked it. In talking with a friend of mine, we discussed what kind of personality he would have based on his bio over at TFormers: http://tformers.com/transformers_databa ... eluxe.html

This was my opinion:
I see him as an eager warrior, happy to help because he knows it helps his fellow Autobots, but naïve as to the true nature of his enemy. He doesn't understand them, the anger, the cruelty.

This turned into me doing my first bit of TF fan fiction. Really my first fan fiction ever. Let me know what you guys think.

Part 1

A naturally gifted fighter, Longarm has avoided the nicks and pain of constant combat. Huffer always was a worrier though. He knew something would go wrong. He was right, so right. One minute Longarm was watching Huffer through the scope of his long distance rifle as he flanked Starscream, unknown to the cocky leader of the Seekers. Then Skywarp suddenly appeared, teleported, firing his lasers, striking Huffer in the back, taking him down, but not out. Starscream whirled around at the sound of the blast, quickly realizing what happened. Standing over the little Autobot he laughed gleefully as he placed single shots at vital junctions, watching Huffer suffer and scream.

By this time, Longarm was on the way, as fast as he could, desperate to save his comrade. Screaming in from above, Thundercracker crushed him to the ground, pinning him. Starscream turned and walked towards him. "You really thought you could defeat me? Starscream?! Hahahaha!" He laughed maniacally as he watched Longarm struggle to get free. Starscream looked back to Huffer, now barely twitching on the ground, circuits thoroughly obliterated, then turned back to Longarm. "Useless" he said, then aimed his null ray, and fired.

Thundercracker shot into the air just in time to avoid the blast and leapt back into the battle. The blast struck the Autobot in the back and nearly tore him in two. Skywarp cried out "Autobots!" as Prowl and Ratchet came thundering towards them. "Retreat!" yelled Starscream, and the jets took flight and were far out of range within seconds.

Longarm's screams of agony rang through the battlefield as Ratchet worked his hardest to preserve the spark of his friend. Mercifully, he shut down the neural processor to put Longarm into a suspended mode so he could get him back to the Ark.

"Is he gonna make it?" asked Prowl.

"He should pull through. There was a lot of damage, but nothing I can't fix. Huffer on the other hand. Huffer is gone. Seeing something like that can change a robot forever. Longarm will never be the same…"

Part 2:

Huffer could see it all playing out in his head. He wasn't going to make it. This can't work. But somehow, he seemed to have the mighty Starscream by surprise. As he snuck down the hillside towards the evil warrior, he began to believe that he might succeed. He steadied himself and aimed his blaster at the back of Starscream's head.

The lasers struck him in the back and the pain screamed through his entire frame. As he fell, he saw Starscream turn towards him, the realization of what had almost happened hit him, and the hatred poured through his gleaming red eyes. Wild with fear, Huffer frantically tried to reach his weapon but it had fallen too far out of his reach. He couldn't move his legs, some conduit or cable had been severed by the lasers, but he still felt the pain. He made one final reach for the blaster.

A blinding light and pain ended his last hope of survival as he pulled back the ragged remnant of what used to be his arm. Screaming in pain, he looked up to see Starscream standing above him, coldly aiming his next blast. Skywarp watched half-heartedly, pausing to take pot shots at passing Autobots.

The blasts ripped through him as he started to fade into a static filled haze. The screams halted, but the lasers didn't. As his head rolled limply to the side, he thought he saw somebody running towards him. Longarm? No, Why would he do that? He’ll never make it.

The static filled his whole field of vision, software and various systems scrambling to keep his little body running. Not even Ratchet can help me now he thought. His last thought was of Cybertron, his home that he missed so much.

The last blast finished the cruel torture, and Starscream turned his attention to someone else...

Part 3:

Longarm was scouting the battlefield. His long range energy rifle was a devastating asset in any battle. He watched through the scope from afar, providing cover for fellow soldiers, cutting down the opposition from extreme distance. He couldn't understand the hatred the Decepticons held for him and the other Autobots, but he did know that he had to do everything in his power to help his friends.

He watched as Jetfire and Brawl clashed. The 2 opposite styles made for a very interesting battle. However, it was something else that caught his eye. Swindle, closing fast from behind, leaping from vehicle mode into robot form, aiming his chest cannon at Jetfire's back. Quickly, the rifle was aimed, the trigger was pulled. A bolt of pure white hot energy cut cleanly through Swindle, removing both legs at mid thigh level. By the time Swindle's torso was falling to the ground, Longarm was already scouting for another target.

He moved around the battlefield when his sensors were jerked to the image of Starscream, standing exposed on a hillside. Knowing the significance of this shot, he took his time. He zeroed in on Starscream's chest. Suddenly, something small caught his eye. "Huffer! What are you doing?!" The little bot was trying to sneak up on Starscream. In horror he watched as Skywarp materialized from nowhere, his laser blasters knocking the Autobot to the ground.

As fast as he could, Longarm was on his feet towards the downed comrade. He saw Starscream turn and take aim at Huffer. He wanted to look away. But he couldn't. He watched as shots were surgically placed, Huffer's screaming echoing through the battlefield, echoing through his head. "Why? WHY?!" He couldn't comprehend the reason. All he knew was that he had to stop it.

So close

Almost there

Whatever hit him felt like a tank. He felt the knee in his back, the hands on his shoulders holding him down. Then he heard the voice.

"What do we have here?"

Thundercracker. He had seen Longarm's charge and moved in to stop it. As much as he didn't like Starscream, he knew the Decepticons would be worse without him.

Starscream turned to him. Longarm looked up in terror, helplessly pinned beneath Thundercracker's bulk.

"Useless"

The pain from the null ray was unlike anything he had ever felt before. It felt like every part of him was on the surface of the sun. He couldn't feel his legs. He couldn't move.

He heard Starscream cry 'retreat' as he lay in agony. His vision flicked in and out. He saw the shadowy forms of Prowl and Ratchet screech to a halt. Ratchet began to work on him immediately. He hadn't thought the pain could be any worse, but it was now. But through it all, it was Huffer's death that hurt the most.

"I COULDN'T SAVE HIM! WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT? WHY WOULD THEY KILL HIM? WHYYYYY?!"

Everything went black.

Yeah I know, sorry about the little guy. He just fit so perfectly into the role of unlikely hero who doesn't make it. I needed somebody that would be enough to make someone snap. If a big warrior type bit the dust, eh, he died fighting. But when the little guy goes down, it gets to people more I think.

I do plan on doing another few parts to this, how Longarm is changed, revenge, stuff like that.
