Ha ha ha, this was awesome!
Ah hedge-clipper Megatron....how I've proudly forgotten thee.
I'd say bringing back Maggie would be fantastic, she's great as an actor and she has an accent, and I luv women with accents. Perhaps she's a character who would be apart of the NASA space program whose since set aside a military branching whose purpose is monitoring Alien or NBE activity around Earths atmosphere. Which could lead to a great opening with a nice run in with Soundwave, give him the screen time he deserves! And use the Head design Josh Nizzi supplied please! No more bug eyes or beetle mouths for Soundwave, thank you.
I think turning to space would be a good call, give the movie franchise a feel thats it's going into bigger territory with the space program and touching up on the pervious Mars Rover incident. And there's tons of ways to keep your human aspect and still venture into the stratosphere! Especially with Sam already falling head strong into his Physics class....or was it Astrophysics? I forget. In short, I think you could have two sub plots which intertwine. Maggie and NEST heading the Space/Invasion aspect of this film....and Sam and Fox and even Robowarrior heading the Earth bound plotline which both intertwine in the films finale.
Unicron can work, it's just a matter of if they pick the right talent to give it a treatment. An assult on Unicron ala Deathstar whilst Sam and Optimus searchig for a way to stop him on earth seems more then plausible. Perhaps the Matrix isn't gone...I mean it turned to dust and then reformed....why wouldn't it survive an explosion? Especially if powered by Prime Ghost Power or whatnot.
And though there are some worries to Megatron playing second fiddle to Unicron, he needs an upgrade being as of now he's left in a condition where he's a beaten pile of scrapped Decepticons. Going the whole Galvatron route just seems like a clean way to fix this, introduce a new character, and get Nimroy on board as voice actor! Besides, you get Galv doing very Megatron stuff by trying to break free of Unicron's hold and get back on top. Perhaps after learning that once Earth is consumed....Cybertron is next?
There are more then enough routes to explore. And lets face it, this franchise is about spectacle then human emotion. Other then Megan, the humans play second fiddle to the Robots. And being its a franchise based on Alien robots from space, why not set the third film in their element....SPACE! Perhaps the earth plot is Oprimus reviving Cybertronian cities hidden within the ruins of the Mayan Pyramids (Since it's been established aliens built the more fantastic structures of early civilization) or underneath Stone Henge. Atlantis. Just tons of fabled cities which are revived and set to assult Unicron in an all out battle. I mean it's epic, and its Star Wars levels of spectacle. And in Star Wars or even Independence Day the humans didn't loose their spot light.....it's just based on who is telling the story and how good or bad they are at it.
Which is why I say again.....
Bring on the new blood ha ha ha
