Alright, just watched this episode and it felt... hollow. The duel was meh, the animation on Windblade is still choppy, and Prime's voice was... kind of a letdown.
While watching this I was thinking "Jon Bailey can and has done better than this. He is fully capable." His Optimus sounded too stiff and not genuine enough, and when we've had wooden performances from Peter Cullen as Optimus in TF: Prime, that's sadly saying something. It kinda felt to me more like Optimus was reading his lines rather than just naturally speaking them. And I sincerely believe that to not be Jon's fault at all, but more the fault of the directing. Hearing him speak most of his lines made me think "He can say and act these lines so much better than this." It's almost like they were trying to restrain Optimus as a character rather than letting him act natural.
Also, and this is more from a technical side, I think they synthesized his voice a bit too much, as he sounds too metallic, as though Jon were speaking through a tin can. If they could have just toned down some of the synth effects it'd sound much better.
But overall, this ep was kind of a dull one.

My god what the heck happened here?
"Hey Mark did you release the hate plague again?"
Anyways this episode was bad and whoever made should feel bad.
I'm sure that the team "tried" with what little budget they had but unfortunately they just got a bunch of Youtubers to do this show.

I dont get why we are throwing the word "adult" around. These wont have sex or drugs, nor should they. Its the wrong word to use. And the word "adult" was never used in the promotion of this series (at least I dont hink so, does anyone have a quote proving otherwise?), they just said it was made for the fans. I think there is a big difference between "adult" and "for fans".

sorry, i just hate what they did to windblade here, turned her into mary sue level of terrible, she reached that line, and pole vaulted more into that territory, and must be erradicated, terminated, exterminated, Wiped COMPLETELY FROM CYBERTRON. though i do like her characterization in RID,
But i will settle for her being knocked upside the head by Ragnarok,
william-james88 wrote:I dont think there is something wrong with a Mary Sue character per se, if its done well. For exmample Rey from The Force Awakens is a Mary Sue and there is nothing wrong wtih that. She's a strong female who can handle her own. Windblade is on another level though, filled with angst, just a ball of anger.
Doesn't anyone know what a Mary Sue is any more? A female character is not a Mary Sue just because she's tough or the writers favor her. A Mary Sue is an overly perfect author-insertion. I doubt any Hasbro execs see themselves as a female robot in Kabuki makeup. Technically, Windblade is a Scrappy by the way she is being handled.
And I take umbrage to the accusations that Rey is a Mary Sue. In a universe where a nine-year-old learned to pilot a ship in five seconds and used it to destroy an enemy battleship, and then his teenage son did the same thing with an even bigger battleship, both with no training, Rey's ability to tap into the Force and intuit its uses to defeat a gravely-injured emo Vader wannabe is well within the realm of possibility of the established rules. If she had had a dick, no one would have batted an eye.

Who the heck said anything about sex or drugs am I still on Seibertron right now?
I do think that the creators of this show very early on stated many times that this show was going to have a
MATURE
story line but yet you can see how well that's turning out.

Right Windblade is not a Mary Sue but she is simply a really bland and badly written character.
Just like quite a few G1 characters eh?

Jk about G1 but seriously Windblade here is the most crap character that I have ever seen in Transformers media and that's coming from me Deadput the guy who either likes or tolerates all characters in Transformers so you know that something went really wrong here.

who wrote this crap?
sorry for swearing, i cant wait till she gets her head crushed in after her spine is ripped out used to whip her than strangle the glitch and her legs torn off shoved through her abdomen as her wings are wielded to a wall, keeping her from escaping like a butterfly in museum. So we can watch as blades slowly carve off the metal off her body before she is finished off ONCE AND FOR ALL using her sword to carve her spark out of her Chest with one final slash up to slice her head in half.
Dude......get some help.
I thought this was better than the first two episodes, but I still hate the way Windblade is being written. She sounds like a spoiled brat.

For reference: the IMDB credit pages for the entire cast, so everyone can stop jumping on the oh so easy bandwagon of 'it's just YouTubers/Facebookers' (whatever that means). They are all, ALL, voice actors. Maybe not long-established, but all professionals. Do they also produce content on YouTube? Yes. So does Steve Blum. So does Tara Strong. Give up.

Hmm, no credit to the rest of the crew on imdb, only cast. Whoever designed the characters and backgrounds definitely needs some love.

I'm still thrilled and honored to be officially working on my favorite franchise and I've always supported the franchise in good times and bad so it continues. There's a few things I wished I could talk about but being under legal constraint prevents me from discussing it on public forums. I did the job I was given to do as it was given me to do and those in charge are happy. As long as the bosses are happy, I'm happy.

Good point! Other than the writers/producers (Eric S. Calderon, George Krstic and F.J. DeSanto), we get little else.

Hardly what I was going for I like or tolerate all Transformers media (except Kiss players for obvious reasons and Prime because of disappointment)
I was taking a jab at some of the not developed characters from the G1 cartoon I mean would you say Prowl or Sideswipe were important or well written?
Combiner Wars is based on IDW G1 which is a reimagining of G1 and so is this show so I would say it's relevant but I'm not talking about the old G1 show anymore.

Hopefully the designers and animators get their credits up there soon. There's a bit of a problem with those types of roles getting shafted in the industry. Which is really not cool.

If they were able to get those guys onto the show then why is this show still awful as sin?
It's worse then Energon and that's saying something

Seibertronians, it's Tuesday. That means that Machinima has released the next episode of their Combiner Wars series. It also means that it's review time! So sit back, relax, grab a mug of Hot Energon, and let old Bronzey tell you a story.
We open with Optimus Prime this time(bit of a change of pace there), and he's standing in an old hangar with Windblade. The hangar appears to be on an Asteroid or moon, as it's overlooking the entire planet of Cybertron. Windblade and Optimus are standing off. Windblade reaches for her sword, and Optimus takes her sniper rifle and breaks it.

Our first good look at Optimus
A minor thing here, I wish a louder sound effect would have been given to the gun breaking. As it sits now, it sound less like it's breaking and more like it's supposed to fold in half or transform. (Ala Masterpiece Optimus Prime's gun) The first time I watched this episode, I didn't realize it was the sniper rifle from last episode he was holding, and I thought he was turning it in to some kind of sword to fight Windblade.
Anyway, we pick up pretty much where we left off last episode. Windblade takes a few swipes at Prime, and the former Autobot leader dodges all of them, making me wonder how she took down a Combiner no problem.

Optimus avoids Windblade's attacks
Windblade and Prime share some dialogue about how she tried to kill Starscream, how Windblade feels like the universe would be better off if all Autobots, Decepticons, and Combiners ceased to function. This line especially strikes me as odd. She suddenly hates everyone, and wants to commit mass genocide, but in the same breath she literally says she doesn't want the war to continue. Prime says he obviously won't stand by and let her. Windblade then asks him how many 'bots he's killed in the war, and he says anything he did in the war was not done out of spite and was not unprovoked.
While we're on dialogue here, let's look at voice acting. Windblade is still a little stiff, but you can tell the voice actor's getting more comfortable in the role and the character she wants to play. We finally hear OP speak, and he's done wonderfully by our very own Jon3.0 (or Jon Bailey as he's know in the "Real World"). And, I mean this genuinely, he is bar none the best Voice actor in the entire series so far. This is because he's had years of experience not only voicing transformers, but voicing Prime. It's unfair to expect the same result from voice actors who aren't comfortable in their new metal skin.
Again, there's problems with the animation, it's waaay too blocky and completely off-base with the words being spoken, plus there's a lot of close-up mouth shots in this one, so it's near impossible to ignore. I have a feeling this isn't going to change, so we'll have to get used to it.
Windblade then uses a special, what I'm calling a, "Turbine Attack" on Optimus, who pulls out his G1 orange Energon axe. It's cool to see the axe return in this series, and it's a nice tie-in to the older fiction.

The Axe is back, baby!
After a few more minutes of fighting, Windblade pleads with Optimus to help her because the combiners are getting out of control. I wish the series would actually show us this "Devastation" she's talking about, because save for the initial Computron v. Menasor fight, we've seen nothing about the combiners being "out of control". And even that fight was still between an Autobot and a Decepticon, so it's not to out of the norm for us. I wish she would have some flashback to a combiner tearing through the buildings of Cybertron, killing civilians. Something to give her more of a motive. (More specifically an Autobot combiner, that would really be a stark realization for the audience that they really are out of control.)

Optimus Prime and Windblade battle it out in front of an impressive backdrop
Windblade tells Prime about the council's possession of the Enigma of Combination. Prime didn't know this, and Windblade now has a chance to talk him into joining her in destroying it. Optimus realizes the danger the Enigma poses to Cybertron, but is concerned it can't be destroyed. He considers "the amount of fire-power it would take", and then looks up to the sky, saying that there's only one who can help them now. The episode ends.
This is interesting, because my first thought was Megatron, since he's somewhere in exile, too, but in terms of fire power, Megs doesn't have much more than Optimus. Let's think bigger. So...Devastator? Superion? I can't imagine a combiner helping to destroy a sacred Combiner artifact, although we have been told some are still loyal to the concil...
My theory is: It's been mentioned all-throughout this series that Windblade is a City-Speaker. (Heck, it's even mentioned in this episode), and Optimus is concerned about a lack of firepower, it leads me to believe that either Metroplex or Fort Max is set to make an appearance. I could be completely off-base, but this is what it sounds like to me.

So, in conclusion, Episode 3 is still better than episode 1, but I think 2 still takes it for best episode so far. This was a bit more action-focused like 1, but it had some exposition as well. Unfortunately, most of the exposition is all re-hashed things we've heard before. "End the war" "You're a killer, too" "Combiners must be stopped" "We all have reasons to continue the war" "The enigma threatens the people of Cybertron" It's pretty much the same lines each episode. So again, better than the first, not as good as the second.
Haven't seen the episode yet? You can find it on Go90!
Thanks for tuning in, I'll see you next week when we take a look at Episode 4! So keep it right here on Seibertron.com, your best resource for the latest and greatest Transformers news on the net.

Interesting way to live life. Hopefully that changes when you get kids and wonder if they should be vaccinated or not
