And a faux arm connector on Scavenger. I would say both versions are about equal as far as this aspect is concerned. Maybe Herc more so..

Really?

Maketoys even captured the shoulder connector from the G1 toy although it is probably not functional. The scoop on the arm is about the only thing that differs from the original. Exgraver resembles Scavenger with a similar cartoon head sculpt, track legs (which Maketoys also has) and a scoop arm on his back. That's it. Personally, I think the bot modes (excluding Long Haul) for giant arm way more similar to the originals.

In regards to Hercules issues, and general QC issues in Transformers toys: I have never had a problem with a 3rd party figure breaking down, and yet I have 2 free replacements for faulty parts. I DO have a Takara P.O.S. Masterpiece Rodimus, with ZERO replacements unless you consider the TRU version which was not much better.

Personally, I like the MakeToy version of [Not]Devastator better. He looks more "complicated", which I like. Smaller in scale, but more affordable. At a price of $137.00 for two, I could actually consider buying this.

I'll probably skip the yellow color scheme and wait for the green colors, although the yellow adds an authentic feel to the alt modes.

These look nice, really nice.

The painted versions show off an excellent attention to detail.

I like the yellow. I wouldn't pay $70 a piece to have yellow constructicons, but maybe that is just me.

There is a video review out there that shows the back of Scavenger, and the transformation kibble leaves something to be desired. Add in the lazy design of the arm-kibble on Hook and Scrapper and Long Haul's awful bot mode, and these are still on my "no" list. The cheesecake shots look really nice though.

I'm starting to consider getting the eventual green version of Giant, the combined mode looks that good, but I'll wait to see in-hand reviews of these before I decide to drop another cash-wad on these in addition to Herc.

From the uncolored previews, I am darn tempted to get the green Scrapper and Mixmaster even if I get none of the others.

I think its stupid for them to do the yellow version, do like Tfc put them out space them apart see what QC issue it is then releasethat part with the next figure. Noone is craving the yellow Devy like that. I really question these co. actions on the stuff they eb doing?

Hercules is actually a lot more accuarate in terms of scale in my opinion. People have complained about quality on Hercules but mine have been fine. In Robot mode, they stand just a litte over the deluxe sized it is true but not much. To be fair, if it were a reality with no mass shifting, the Constructicons would have been larger than most of the Decepticons.

Incorporating the combiner parts as trailors just looks wrong to me (as it did on G1 Devy). Also, Giant makes no attempt to hide the combiner head attached to Hook, its sitting out right next to the cab. His own head can clearly be seen at the back too. I haven't seen many cranes with a large robot head attached to it.

Hercules:

Longhaul looks too Movieverse for my liking but could be good for a kitbash into the Fallen. At first glance my first thought was Stockade:

So, yeah, I'm not regretting going with Hercules as my 3rd Party Devestator. If the cost of Giant isn't too high, I might consider getting one to repaint ala Shattered Glass though.

Finally! I've been saying that about the size of Hercules since it came out. Construction vehicles are huge so the Constructicons should be huge. If you want a puny Devastator, here it is for you. If you want a Great Devastator, Hercules is the way to go.

Giant is hardly going to be puny-about and 1 or 2 shorter than Herc overall.

Yeah, Giant won't be puny. It's the same size, to the head, of Bruticus with FP add on's. While it won't be as tall as Hercules, which is looking like to the shoulders of Unicron, there is no need to say it will be puny. Bruticus towers over Voyagers and a couple inches above Ultra's too. I want my Neo G1 Devy to be huge so I'm going with Herc.

Have to give MakeToys major props with the G2 colour scheme. They could see there was no sense going up against another Devy so went with a different paint job to snatch attention.

I am just making myself want these even more. I have the first two parts of Hercules, preordered the next two, managed to arange with my mom to make those her Christmas gift to me (score) and Encore Devy is just around the corner. I'm gonna have so much Devastator on shelf early next year.

So MT has fake arm connector ( which I stated), the track legs are a wash, TFC has a more similar head and back scoop.( Not that I mind the MT placement). So about the same then. I think TFC Hook and Bonecrusher are closer, MT Mixmaster is closer and Scavenger is about a wash as well. Neither Longhauls are even in the debate.

So again all in all nearly equal. I like both versions, Hercs size wins out for me is all.

call me an elitist in that regard, but its how i view things...

i also am kinda impartial when it comes to multiple products of the same type or offer similar things - i've always been that way - plus i just have a hard time in figuring out why one thing would be inferior over another of the same type

Yeah, as an internal component issue, I can see that position. I think with the scale of these issue, TFC is beyond QC (implying YMMV) to full on oversights, which is kind of weird considering how many test molds we saw. At least their response to issues have been admirable, saying they want Herc to be as awesome as we do.

Yeah, I'm fairly impartial too. Mostly because I really like transforming toy robots in general more than building a perfect cast.

I'm still down for Maketoys Giant. The yellow isn't as off putting to me as green in for realisms sake. How many lime green construction crews has anyone seen? I will say though if they do do a later green version I probably will be selling the yellows unless I get the G2 shelf I want going (I'm an entire Botcon set behind on that  ). Still, I want this for my Classicsverse so it has to be even with Bruticus & Superion. If I were getting one to go with Masterpieces or Alternators, I'd go Herc.

If I win the lottery, I'll go both  !

Oh, and construction vehicle aren't as huge as everyone keeps saying. We all still have the same mental image of them as these huge super god machines from when we were kids. But looking at the cement mixer and dump truck outside for the roadwork, I am underwhelmed.

My question is what makes people so sure there will be the lime green repaint? They made it yellow to be differentiated from Herc, didn't they? Do we have any official word from Maketoy? Maybe I missed it somewhere.

I do like the look of these. I own an original G1 and G2 set, and both have seen some heavy play wear (and both have Hook's crane broken), so I'm looking forward to either set. In a perfect world, I'd own the Hercules toys to go with them; but in a perfect world I'd also have a pony.

So yeah, woot MakeToys.
