I've seen this number thrown around a couple times and I hope it comes to be as I think I could swing for both at this price, but I'm not holding my breath.
Yeah, to be honest I can't even remember where I first heard that quote, but it's been circulating for a while now. I believe they are also supposed to be releasing these in two packs for about 100 a set.

What QC issues are you talking about? The one scoop issue that they fixed right away? Both mine have been great so far. sturdy and well made.

The problems with HL are isolated to the ratchet joints stripping away almost immidiately. If you check their Fackbook page it's on there quite a lot at the moment.

They look too small to me in both modes. How many times have you seen a dump truck or any of the alt modes used to make Giant the same size as a car driving down the road? Hercules is actually a lot more accuarate in terms of scale in my opinion. People have complained about quality on Hercules but mine have been fine. In Robot mode, they stand just a litte over the deluxe sized it is true but not much. To be fair, if it were a reality with no mass shifting, the Constructicons would have been larger than most of the Decepticons.
Incorporating the combiner parts as trailors just looks wrong to me (as it did on G1 Devy). Also, Giant makes no attempt to hide the combiner head attached to Hook, its sitting out right next to the cab. His own head can clearly be seen at the back too. I haven't seen many cranes with a large robot head attached to it.
Giant:
Hercules:
Longhaul looks too Movieverse for my liking but could be good for a kitbash into the Fallen. At first glance my first thought was Stockade:
So, yeah, I'm not regretting going with Hercules as my 3rd Party Devestator. If the cost of Giant isn't too high, I might consider getting one to repaint ala Shattered Glass though.

Up until these pictures, I was almost certainly going to get Giant.
I nerded up the place by doing a scoring chart for the toys and the TFC version came out on top over all. So, I bought Exgraver and Heavy Labor tonight.

Yup.

Both are great figures, but if I were you I wouldn't even bother moving Heavy Labor's hip ratchets until A) you open him up and do some custom repairs to the ratchet tabs or B) wait for TFC to make an official announcement on how they plan on handling this situation. At the moment they are just asking customers who have had trouble to email them for replacement parts that will ship in December. At least that's what customers who have gotten their replies are reporting. I assume the long wait time is to allow them time to redesign the joint, otherwise they would just be sending out more flawed parts that would fail after installation. Luckily you don't have to use that joint for transformation.

El Duque wrote:RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote:Wait, what's the problem and/or solution?
The problem is in the hip ratchet that allows for forward and backward movement of Heavy Labor's legs. The ratchet joint is composed of two pieces, a cog and a tension tab. The tension tab engages the the teeth on the cog to provide the ratcheting effect. If it were working properly as you move the leg the teeth on the cog would push against the tab, which would in turn flex allowing the tooth to pass. However the tension tab was not designed properly and does not flex at all. Since you can apply a lot of pressure using the leg for leverage you can force the tooth pass the tab, but something has to give. The result is the teeth being stripped of the cog. This is particularly problematic, because Heavy Labor's hip joints become Hercules' hip joints, which need those ratchets to hold the weight of the the three Voyager size figures that comprise Hercules' upper body. There are some fixes out there, but at the moment TFC hasn't made an official statement. Check this topic on TFW out for images and proposed fixes:
