Everyone please note(as I don't want to reignite the argument), that I am NOT saying one set is intrinsically better than the others, just that I feel Giant will fit how I want MY collection to look, which should be all that's important if making a choice between the two.
I've preordered Giant and will probably pick up Hercules if it ever shows up at something of a discount. But I simply love the fact that I have two to choose from and neither of them is this:

the "chest wing" plate has always come historically with "Scrapper" (by whatever 3rd party name he is currently going by), the front-end loader bot who forms Devy's right leg...so thats actually accurate.
DJrasmo wrote:Okay, so I just cruised thru this forum again, and just saw (i guess, really LOOKED at) the side-by-side comparison pics on Daimchoc's last post...and I am kinda confused:
Dr. Hook and "Crane" are roughly the same height (even, arguable, the same "bulk")
The two dump trucks are roughly the same size, although Herc's bot mode is admittedly more bulky than Giant's bot mode.
Most noticeably (sp?)...the shot of the fully combined Herc next to Giant's torso with it's prosthetic legs...the 'torso area' (the two side-by-side "blocks" formed by crane and the lower abdominal portion formed by the dump truck)...look almost EXACTLY the same dimensions on both Gestalts. Also, the arms look roughly the same size (although Herc's are a bit "beefier"...but not necessarily longer or larger).
Giant's head is smaller...but I kind of always hated the head on my Herc since I first put him together...he has a big blockhead that doesnt even look to scale with his own body.
And it may just be the stand the OG poster was using...but it looks like once you get the final pair for Giant and attach his legs, he would be roughly the same height as Herc too...alghouth, again, with a lot less "bulk" to him. This could just be speculation though, as everything from the groin up appears to be roughly on scale between the two bots.
So, my overall conundrum is...where does the debate about scale come from? Herc is supposed to be "too big" to be on par with Bruty/Supes, but Giant is supposed to be able to fit right in? Something isnt adding up here....

in my eyes they made 1 mistake...
and the question is should you correct it , and if you did would it be that intrusive comparing it to the g1 devestator...
i'm talking about the cab of the craine...
compared to al the other verhikels its on the wrong side of the verhikel....
ea in the us and europe we generaly drive on the right side so al the cabs are on the left side of verhikels....
but withe the craine its on the right...
making me think the original design for that verhikel was inspierd by a japanees verhikel , where i emadgine you drive on the "wrong"side of the road...
you could fix this by flipping the cab...
but it would mean that in the final merge the cab and crain would swiths sides in the front view...so it would mirror the g1 version....
then you ask would this be that wrong / bad ??
whel in my view no...
i would love make toy make a version withe the correction i just mentioned or make al the others also left hand drive
if not i wil probably trie to mod mine if i ever get one becouse i soooooo want to but darn is it expensive....
wonder what others have to say on this...

One of the very first combined prototype pics we saw of Giant (back when Hercs legs were still hypothetical) was of it standing next to a Crossfire Bruticus and they are about the same height, kibble aside, but with Giant being much beefier. At the time, most of the speculated height estimates between Giant and Herc based on measurements with standard figures was that Herc would only be an inch taller than Giant. But putting a completed Herc with a Crossfire Bruticus proved this wrong. There is'nt a huge difference between a small Voyager and a large Deluxe but six of those differences compounded on each other does add up.thexfile wrote:must admit i love this version , i so want one...

It's because they're not based on Western construction vehicles but Japanese toys based on Japanese construction vehicles. It may not be accurate to what you see in your part of the world but it is accurate to what you'd find in a G1 Transformers collection and that's what they were going for.

That is exactly what I said, yes.Hotrodimust wrote:I just wanna to all the people you brought up herc having issues and tfc including replacement parts HAAAAA HAAAAA looks like giant is in the same boat and b4 anyone talks smack I own both herc and giant so I can talk smack about which everyone I want because I dropped the cash and have them in hand IM JUST SAYING LOL
No need for all of that. Giants issues are relatively minor compared to the Hercs pile of problems and they've got the fix ready before it even rolls out to most of the preorder holders. Even Fansproject had an issue with one of their Insecticons, so nobodies above problems. One think about 3rd party companies, they actually fix their problems, unlike Hasbro who just makes another hundred thousand more broken and misassembled toys like it's nothing.Hotrodimust wrote:I have one question if I'm not mistaken isn't the yellow version supossed to come with a bonus or something since its a limited version I thought I read that some where does anyone know is this is true and what it is
Well, we've seen pics of the yellow Giant with screw driver hands, one flathead and one Phillips. I hope it's not just that but I don't think anyone's buying these for the extra bits.
1. Unscrew the crane base.
(unscrewing the crane doesn't affect alt mode)
2. Now you have a weapon-crane.
3. Robot mode is much balanced.
4. Attach the crane (using the weapon peg) behind neck.
5. Enjoy !
Bonus:
6. Collect the screw as a limited Maketoys item.

Thanks, but I already know that. I also know that shipping from the US is stupidly expensive, despite sending stuff there from this side of the Atlantic being fairly reasonable. I'm not keen on paying half as much again as the set costs just to get it posted to me.
