I wonder if they will keep their original alt-modes ?

I don't mind to much if they change them, It's not like Dreadwind looked much like an F-16 anyway and Darkwing's Tornado alt mode might not be so well known internationally.

In the US, the RAF Tornado might be the second, or maybe the third most known variable sweep wing aircraft (not counting the Robotech Veritech

)

1) F14 Tomcat
2) RAF Tornado
3) B1 bomber
4) F111 Aardvark

Well, maybe a couple of the Russian MiGs, SU, or TU fighters/bombers would make the list... But I still think the RAF Tornado would be more popular than any Russian fighter...

For me the big question is will the alt modes be able to combine to form Dreadwing?

An even bigger question is will MT go the extra mile and have them combine in bot mode as well, duocon-style?

Yeah, combining into the super-jet would be awesome. Some sort of super-con would... not make a damned bit of sense and possibly cause over-engineering problems.
