Twitchfilm.com is reporting that they have learned that Mark Wahlberg is in early talks with Michael Bay to star in Transformers 4? Wahlberg has just finished working with Bay in his upcoming film "Pain and Gain". If this casting choice becomes reality, where does that leave the recent casting call for a male and female lead? As always, treat this rumor with a grain of salt until official confirmation.

*EDIT* Michael Bay has updated his website to address this rumor:

The Mark Wahlberg T4 rumor is just a rumor.

Mark and I are talking about another film project.

Guys! Dont you see the great potential for a crossover title here? Just picture it... Marky Mark reprises his role from 'Planet of the Apes' only, at the end of the previous film where he landed on what he thought was Earth, instead turns out to be an alternate version of Earth populated by...

transforming apes!

If this is true its good news. Mark Walberg is a good actor and can bring alot to the franchise. IMO this is a win. The only problem I see is that being a well known actor, his fee might be a bit hefty that will cut into an already smaller movie budget than the last movie.

However, haters will always hate. If we bring well known good actors, people will hate. Bring less known actors and people will complain that there horrible acting will ruin the franchise and Micheal Bay is just out to ruin everyones childhood.

Burn, that's the best response I've seen on here in a long time.

It's a shame the rumor got shot down because honestly, having him star in it would have seriously helped and been one of the few things that might get me to see this. From my own pov, TF4 absolutely, positively SHOULD NOT HAPPEN! Not with Bay, not with anyone, it simply should NOT be made. Just take the foot of the entire franchise now and shoot it with a BFG and get it over with.
TF3 was a great ending point and anything past a trilogy for any franchise guarantees a complete sh**-fest of a film to follow. Not even the Star Wars saga survived that curse and there were only ever 3 out of 7 Star Trek films with the original cast that were worth a damn and that's being generous with my praise.
Statistically speaking, TF4 will, beyond all doubt, suck giant shiny metal ass regardless of who stars in it or who directs it and it's just a case of sheer greed totally overshadowing any and all attempts to create/continue any kind of story or entertain the fans.
And it's not Bays idea to do it either, it's Spielberg and Paramount so those of you who bitch about Bay better start channeling your anger in the proper direction. The man who brought us E.T. and Indiana Jones is the one sodomizing our childhood and pissing on our beloved franchise this time around. :evil:

Considering all the rumors Michael Bay has denied that have turned out to be 100% right, I'm gonna go ahead and assume Wahlberg IS being considered for this movie and they're just trying to cover it up as usual.

I would rather have Marky Mark as the star of the movie instead of another dumbass teenager. Or how about this, this time around you actually make the robots the stars of the movies and have the humans be the plot device cannon fodder.

But....but....that would be LOGICAL and SMART and cost MONEY. We can't have that.

Actually, I do think one of the big reasons the actual Transformers are shifted to the background is that it's easier to film with real people doing things in the shot instead of filming a whole bunch of scenery and adding the robots in later.

True, that. Bay was also quoted saying that filming CG-oriented movies was a lot of work, almost like filming three movies at once.

True on the cgi part, expensive as hell rendering all that stuff.
You don't have to render a human, I do think some of 'm get photoshopped frame by frame.

Even if he's going to be in it, almost all the screentime is going to the new high school girl and her douchebag redneck boyfriend. ... okay that was short sighted.

Not gonna rage on Bay since it seems many a fan has already did that for me. But I think Mark Wahlberg would be pretty decent in this. At least he could make up for Max Payne (Ted doesn't count since it's not action).
